My guess would be "pretension", as in pretension to a title, territory or something like that.

Претензия is pretension. And if you will use it, it's very probable, that you will get wrong.
There's no short translation for 'Claim'. It's better to use equivalent - тотем (totem) in case of claim and "Деревенский тотем" for "Village totem". As an option you can use 'клейм' - it's a transliteration for 'claim' in Russian letters - we often use it, because it's short.

Excellent idea for a thead. I'd be amazed if any english-speaking person will try it in-game. That would be awesome. :D

We should sneak in insults into a greetings list, just in case ;)

Here's also some useful words:
Tin + Copper = Bronze - бронза
Deer - олень
Gates - ворота
Plow - плуг
Meat grinder - мясорубка (the same word is using in translation for 'bloody massacre' - кровавая мясорубка).
Pick - кирка
Thief - вор

Bar - слиток (yes, it's correct word)
Charcoal - древесный уголь (the first word is not necessary, because we have only one kind of coal in game)
Clay - глина
Soil - почва
Brick(s) - кирпич(и)

High quality - высокое качество

It will be great to have same posts for other languages. I remember only few words from my visits to Sweden :D :
- Yes - Ja
- No - Nei
- Hi - Hey (maybe wrong)
- Customer - Kund (it was most frequent word in our discussion)
- Alcohol shop - Systembologet (maybe wrong transcription)
- Drugstore - Apoteket
