Would you mind expanding on the linguistics on that? If it is not obvious, I'm a bit interested in such things. :)

Just trying to push through some Slavic names :p

Hlad means shade, and I think it's derived from the adjective hladno (cool).
Jutro means morning, but is also a unit of measure commonly used around here. One jutro is 1600 square hvats, or 5754.64 square meters.

I see. In that case, I should tell you that the reasonably probable interpretation of "Acre" in a place name is not in its meaning as a unit of land area, but in its older meaning, being approximately that of "field"; as I mentioned, it cognates with the Swedish word "åker", which means "field" in the agricultural sense (as in, a wheat field).

Ah, then polje would do. Hladopolje sounds better than Hladojutra anyway. And like every third village here contains the word polje in it's name, so it's credible too. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if there's an actual village called Hladopolje.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

You cannot rename an area and expect it to remain credible. The worst thing you can do to a town/village is take away its name. I kind of thought it was a ghost town anyway?

No, it was just ruined by noobs. I'm taking it back over. Thats also one of the reasons I want it renamed, is because it was accociated with the Griefers.

Nah, I didn't put a huge amount of thought into that name, so I'm not really mad if you want to change it. ;-)

I do seem to like the word 'shade'. My current base is in that I've called the umbral valley. I doubt anybody knows where that is, which suits me just fine for the nonce!

In any case, I am brimming with good place names that I will be running around assigning to places once the new world is in. Already researching maze designs for my 'labyrinth of despair'.

What about a similar name, just not something compound?
Shayder? Shadmire?

Or perhaps names that are just made up?
Krizsan, Cotra, Sharamik, Tinraya, Formello, Marish, Tevrono, Kneece, Mynor, etc.

Also, there are a couple "Land words" that haven't been used yet if you wanted a compound name:
Mire, arbor, moor, den, outpost, plains, encampment, meadow, glade, thicket, vale, dale, haven, etc.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.
