Never been to München/Munich so I can't recommend anything, besides visit some public transportation to hitch a ride to Berlin. Fortunately for you, legal drinking age for beer and wine in Germany is 16, so you could taste-test some fine German beer. Unfortunately for you, well, the "school-sponsored" part.

Well, I'd love to try some german beer even though I hate beer.
Sadly Berlin is not on our itinerary, we'll be staying in the southern regions.
Although we do have an entire day set aside to get lost and to have us 4 students try and get us back to our hotel.
With a group of just 5 people (4 students, 1 teacher) we'll get some pretty good sight seeing vs "Ok monsterous group of 20 people let's just go through this museum and we're only worried about making sure all of you are here"

No, not that twit. I can't find the news article anymore but a professor from the U.K. was getting frustrated with airport security in Germany, stuck his right arm out and shouted "Sieg Heil." He was arrested for it, though I don't know if he was ever charged.
