As a citizen I feel that I must offer my own opinion.

One person rising to power ALWAYS creates abuse of that power. You know what I think? I think this whole thing is ridiculous. Am I jealous? No. If any of these two people rose to power in any of the things they are in promoting themselves for, I would be gone from bottleneck within three days or less. No offense to both of these people running, but we have people in the village that are a great deal more experienced then yourselves. You are both not even founding members of Bottleneck, yet you want the most important positions in the village. This can NOT be so. Not only would this create jealousy by the more experienced members, but even hatred by some.

If you want to go ahead in doing this selfish promotion, that has been started without asking any of the citizens of the local area, by all means, go ahead. What I can tell you is that even if you proclaim yourself leaders, I will not be answering to either of you. Am I a thief? No. Am I a killer? No. Am I a sheep that will follow any person that proclaims himself leader of a village he has been apart of for even a shorter time then me? MOST CERTAINLY NOT!

I refuse to vote in this "election" as it seems that you are both out for power. WorkerDrone, you are my friend. Do I think you can be a head law keeper? Ehrm, no. You're a bit to hot headed for that as I will concur with Hamel. Owen, could you be a leader of an entire village? Maybe, but not right now. You have not the experience nor the friendship of over half the people here. Starting this "campaign" is definitely not going to get you any closer to earning it.

I myself am insulted by this campaign, as both WorkerDrone and Owen seem to be people that would not promote themselves without even consulting the more experienced members of the village. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

You're taking this a bit too seriously, Adam. All this is about is propping up our village idol, which I'm guessing will allow us to get clues anywhere in Bottleneck. I don't think anyone intends to start bossing people around, and I doubt anyone would listen even if they did. Bottleneck will continue to be ruled by the general consensus. Sure, the lawspeaker might have to act on short notice from time to time, but he should be able to avoid making any irreversible decisions without consulting other people. The chief? Well, I expect this to be largely ceremonial position, and to have about as much power over Bottleneck as Queen of England has over UK.

I'm concerned about the abuse of power that would come from doing this. Especially law keeper.

Law-SPEAKER.

All the lawspeaker and chief can do for now is wear fancy clothing, and maybe be able to add or remove town members in the future.
It's in his/her best interest to keep the others happy, since one unhappy person can "voice dissent" bringing the rest of the town down.
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

ahh we'll be ok. You don't have to vote... you dont have to take orders (which Ill suspect we never have) things will most likely just continue on as they have, live in the town do your thing, serve the comunity.

do harm to the comunity? and I guess you'll be run out of town by the mayority of that comunity. these things will not change. we're just moving forward with our town just as the game is moving forward in development, in a way we all are the testing grounds.

I'll be voting for the people that I put most of my faith, those that I believe will carry bottleneck in a way that I can be a part of. ofcourse you are free to not vote (just as in the real world) but not voting also means that you forfeit your opinion. Dont agree with the opinion of those that are making themselves available? then run for a possition aswell.

I wont be running for any position as I enjoy being an underling just fine.

Adam, dont stress the lawspeaker thing so much. Why? WE ARE DWARVES! any dwarf of us who is elected will know full well what happens to nobles that abuse their positions. So, they probably wont. And if they do, well, we dont have magma, so we will just have to be inventive.
That said, I AM a founding member of the community, and I support this move. We must prevent a village idol GAP!

Adam, for one thing, I think its funny how you assume I'm about as new as Owen.

How dare you. I've been playing long enough, hard enough, and by the behavior of you ingame, certainly good enough, to play the role of a town talker. Which is pretty much all this area of 'leadership' amounts to. A sheriff position. Which hardly amounts to anything at all. And if its a 'certain amount of experience' bull shit.

Bull shit I say, because for some reason, I'm the one one ball about simple matters, like for example explaining the slider which everyone should have known about because it was posted by the developers in this forum. And yet still there were things I knew that you didn't, and I wouldn't try to suggest that your more experienced then me because it isn't true. Everyone here has been playing this game in a short time frame. There is no experience, and the vulgar use of this 'town founding' seems to gear it away from the honor of the position to hold over it.

Adam, you are no town founder. I am no leader. We are both members of this community with the same status regardless of what we do to help it.

Stop acting so pretentious.

Everything WorkerDrone said, except with a haughty look of disdain for trying to bring SRS BIZNIZ into something that's only slightly more than a popularity contest.

Seeing as Goran Starodub (AKA Potjeh, AKA DJ) is running against Workerdrone for Lawspeaker. I will almost certainly not be running for that position.

If Owen Quillion goes on uncontested for long enough, I may run for the position of Chieftain.
The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.
