I've had my places busted a few times, and, after the initial shock passes, I usually just pick up whatever is left and move. It's usually a fresh start, and the pain of loss subsides quickly when you are suddenly unburdened by the responsibilities of ownership. Then again I'm also very much a solo player.

As I have pointed out elsewhere, different players have different goals. If one has spent months grinding high quality trees or animals as one's primary goal, the prospect of starting over again can be daunting. Others play the mapping game and might survive loss since they still have their screen shots or play the wiki game (raises hand) and still have those contributions to build upon in the future. As a game developer, I assume your primary sense of accomplishment is the game itself.

I really side with the notions of pallisades.
I mean, new to the game is one thing but you'd have to be new to the internet to discount griefers, trolls, and outright morons. The internet was founded on the principals of one person taking fun out of the suffering of someone else, or at least online gaming was.
I feel for your loss and all, and would be just as hurt. But at least I've protected my camp with a pallisade? It's a bit of a deterrant for people to come in and make you work for their theft. Sorry about your loss and all, but if you didn't manage to take care in protecting your goods at all then it's kind of expected that you'll get robbed. (Go ahead, take ten random valuables and put them on your front lawn. Wait 24 hours, see what's left.) It's nature to loot something that's completely unprotected, and the way that I imagine a lot of noobs get anything decent to their inventory.
Getting upset doesn't help though. At least this game has a bit less supply of griefers and the like. Additionally it's a diverse game that isn't based largely around PvP. Count your blessings. Google will always tell you that there aren't many games fitting those criteria.

Just to put it out there. People can break palisades without using rams now. Just so you know and not get surprised...

Orly?

You sir / madam / other, have ruined my day. This takes much time and effort at least? Didn't know they can solo-smash without a ram.

It takes a few minutes. It will take less and less with time.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Feature since they have more str than the palisades soak.

A few minutes? I would hope this would be a bug, and one that Jorb would get onto quickly. Or he shall be raeg'd, raeg'd hard!!!
That's another down-side of internet gaming too, the smallest bug and the trolls / griefers / etc, get that edge to ruin your enjoyment of a game that much more.
What can you do? Quit? Of course you can!!! Just make sure you leave an angry letter in the forums so that those still playing have something to post on and talk about.

You maybe should know that palisades and walls have been buffed, buffed hard. Before that you could knock down a brickwall with 200 strength.

Ah, by post count you can tell I'm still relatively new. So I suppose that what Avu is talking about is a character with an extremely high strength and pickaxe?
So being confused as I am, does the current pallisades still suffer the threat of one griefer with a pickaxe, a few minutes, and really high STR?
