I usually find it to be more americans rather than europeans using Icq. But then again, that could just be a coincidence.
Icq is crap, i dislike it and prefer Msn or skype for talking. Then again, im used to msn so that could be it =p (even though i was using Icq in the very beginning)

And i also wonder what "international" people are to you.

ICQ, is this some sort of voice chat? or text chat overlay like steam, xfire etc? personally for voice chat i use ventrilo, i have my own private server and talk to some of the friends ive met online over it, its very good quality, easy to set up and low cost

Yeah. That's pretty much my reason to use ICQ: used to it. And most of my friends including my GF have ICQ, and not something else. I'm not using the "official" version, though, since that one doesn't even seem to care about the quality of its advertisments, leading to a crapload of script errors. Yay pidgin.

That's the best explanation you can give? Really now?

ICQ is an instant messenger, one of the older ones. It does have some voice chat functionality, but not a really good one iirc.

I'm guessing he means 'people worldwide' or 'people outside his country'.
Either that or just people who are very international.

I used ICQ, but then I was forced to use MSN after some of my friends switched.
But now I use Pidgin, so it's all good.

my preference is google talk, but I use meebo (web app that uses pidgin's aggregation code) so I can handle msn, gtalk, facebook and icq all on the one interface which is handy.

ICQ was indeed great, but now it's old and crap and I keep getting spammed with invites from people I don't know, so I don't use it anymore.

As for international, I believe it is clear that he means people who have dual citizenships. You know, multi national individuals, who are both 'mericans AND 'othericans

I know a greco-german, but i guess he doesn't count now. :( Not that I'd know his reasons to use ICQ, but knowing him i guess it's pretty much "used to it and friends have it"-reasoning, too.

I feel so old... :(

Anyway, AFAIK, people in Russia still use ICQ a lot.

Well, ICQ or MSN... most people I know have both. And Skype on top of that too.
Sometimes its just too much work to just switch messenger, since a lot of your friends are already there.
And yeh... my ICQ number is really old >_<.

I suppose I should say "foreign" or more.. non english-speaking people seem to use it. Although international people fit's very well & for me to have to explain why would just be sad. I suppose it might be a bit weird to use the word "International" here if you take into account the member-base of Haven.

Yeah, Every Russian I make friends with in-game or inquire about trading opportunities for Haven seems to have ICQ. I actually liked it way back when. Not so sure what the newer versions are like but they probably aren't as good as the old ones. Only problem I had with ICQ is that all my reallife friends wanted to use AIM or MSN and noone other then very little amounts of people seemed to use ICQ.
