I quite like the fact that this murder was a product of the game world being so viscious and that everyone has been equally brutal in their demands for vengency, it suits the anarchy of the world
BUT
maybe we can mature as a game-soceity and create some sort of rule of law? some social consensus on weilding this ranger power
OR
We can keeping running around like savages murdering every "criminal" in sight, and then getting all worked up about the unjust deaths the occationally occurs because of it.

I agree. We should construct a type of prison, and system of arresting people. I've suggested handcuffs before. If they work the same was as force summoning in terms of keeping the player logged in, There would be a lot less death that's for sure.
I know I wouldn't be killing. Knock out, bind, drag to a prison. If they logout then they can stay there until a long conversation is had, maybe a community could have real courts to decide on the sentencing.
an Impartial jury. Impartial, not like Ferinex and Malicus, those two are butthurt Kinda trollish too - very bloodthirsty really noobish.

I think you missed my point, this isn't going to happen with simple game additions (hand cuffs ect). It requires a change in the social order of the game, and thus perseptions of the social world in H&H..... which takes alot more then some game additions.
ONe of the main reasons for this quick execution is the crime levels. People are currently working hard to kill criminals and everyone is cheering it on. but now an innocent has died, people are upset. but no one is against the high number of on the spot execution, because it keeps crime down.
But as a first step:
Its up to the stake holders of power in the game to determin how power and justice is used. Major towns, strong players, rangers. must decide and set standards of justice. If they even want too, they may think that the situation is fine, it keeps criminals in there place..... it up to them
