It used the google maps API. Pretty easy to setup. They just needed someone to buy a domain name ($20 USD lolz) and get some hosting (Another $20 USD lololz).

A lot of people here have websites (and offered the creator havenmap.tk space).

Problem is that even though Google Maps API isn't so bad, CASA is, really. :X

No instructions just semi-commented code.

I'm pretty sure there's some tool out there that'll carve your image files up for you and into all the different tile sizes google maps needs. You just tell it how much zoom you want and let the program handle the rest, then point the google maps API (dload that from google and get a code) to the right directory. I was working around with it on a project once. Ended up with a million bloody little tiles because I zoomed too far and windoze crashed because it couldn't handle more than 40,000 files in the directory or something.

Not sure if it helps you guys but I once stumbled upon an ad-free free german webhost called triopsi.de. I've recommended it to some people and they confirmed it was OK. Maybe it could suit the needs of this project.

Well, I got google maps API up, and actually a domain is much cheaper than that. $10 USD/yr. I already got hosting for pretty cheap with unlimited space/bandwidth, if I actually get dynamic markers setup and all that jazz I'll consider purchasing an Add-On domain or just tossing it up on mine. :)

-Other thread seemed to vanish or Inn has had much activity :O- *<- Fucking Blind, I found it xD

Link to that $10/yr please. Also to your hosting provider. And hurrr, if you can make those markers work like in havenmap.tk or better, ima donate a dollar to you (i also want that code then ;D)!

Be very wary of anyone offering "unlimited" space & bandwidth, especially for $10 USD a year. You'll find sites like that have clauses that limit their use quite extensively. IE: No more than X% of server usage at any time or X% of an amount of bandwidth. Great if you're running a blog with no visitors. Not so great if you're doing something serious. All those sites out there full of glowing reviews for those companies are often put there by the company themselves too.

Just be sure to keep local backups of everything, expect shit to go slowly if it gets a lot of visitors and don't be surprised if (with a bunch of images on site being looked at by a fair few people in H&H every once in a while) that you get taken offline for using too much bandwidth. Still, can only wait and see.
