I don't hate LARPers, you got to admire their dedication to dressing up in fairy pants once a week and pretending to be angsty vampires. I do however laugh at them. Hard.

Well, LARPing is just like playing when you're a kid. A little bit of costume, and a LOT of pretend.

The only difference is when you're 6 people go "How cute" and it's just a game of 'pretend', when you're 25, people go "Wtf is he wearing?", and it's some sort of ridiculously overdefined annoyance.

"No BERT-"
"CALL ME DRAKE WHILE WERE LARPING JEEZ!"
"Whatever, Drake... you can't cast magic missile, you didn't learn the prerequisites, it's all here in the guide!"

Ahahaha, and I know the jackasses your talking about right there, unfortunately they are not confined to only one genre of gaming, although the LARPers almost seem to go out of their way to make asses of themselves... and yes, a great many deserve to be laughed at, but as with all gaming the lesson to be learned is, it's just a game, and the moment people take it too seriously is when you get people like Bert...

Dunno. How do you react to permadeath if you rp it? Do you have to quit the game?

Ancestry is written right into the game. Decendants and inheritance.

RP is not LARP, Avu just doesn't give a rat's ass about terminology. I don't care for RP in a video game, it seems like people always either take it to seriously or godmode with it by using it as a straw man. You're either dealing a huge lolcow or an insufferable hero type. I also don't really quite get how it can work out since RP is about imagination and the mechanics of the game kind of stifle that. And if you're just roleplaying a character rather than skills and advancement, wouldn't it be easier to just do it on a forum like usual?

LARP goes into the "Nerdy things people do for fun that I will never understand" category right along with cosplay, fursuits and fan conventions.
Come back two hours earlier.

I regret ever telling a perfectly ordinary friend about LARPing and LARPers. the next week he was running around in a filthy final fantasy 7 costume and yelling FIRAGA! at people with a group of other freaks, throwin beanbags at random people. real annoying when they would run up and screen LEVEL UP! in your ear... he never cleaned that damn costume, and he never took it off. some people are just weird...

I think LARPing could be loads of fun, provided there's booze involved. I've never done it, but I did get into a lot of sword fights using sticks when I went BBQing with friends, and I laughed till it hurt.

But no, your child returns, weeping and confused to hear of how you drowned. Your child is different from what you were. You may have had the temper, she is meek. You may have taken great pleasure in exploration, she has the fear of water and stays close by her village. She does not know what to do with your silk moths. She gives them all away. And instead she does the pursuits hospitable, she makes the feast table and invites the guests. In time she opens the inn.

When she is murdered it is not her daughter that returns. She was too young. Instead it is her brother and like their mother, he has the temper. He is the fierce warrior and travels long distances with caravans to trade.

In this way you make your characters to change.

I hate fat ass sitting bulls with glasses made of tank-glass, eating pizza, playing all the time computergames with a athletic hero trolling around on forums hiding behind an anonym avatar.

Larpers and RPers are ok, it scares me more to meet cellarchilds.
