Yes he and his "goons" have stolen and killed and other crimes, but the system is designed for this kind of activity. But if nobody ever steals or kills other players then there is no way to develop the mechanics for this kind of interaction. You have to look at the bigger picture. More players=a more robust system. Issues like security for your items will eventually be resolved, I'm sure. If the devs don't address the issue directly I'm sure some clever player could come up with a banking system that would help to secure some of your more valuable items. In the end, I'm sure there will be systems in place to secure the things that you hold dear, just like there is in the real world.

On the other hand, he misspelled nigger.

The problem is that he's impatient and sloppy, he disregards scent system and thats his fundamental flaw. You want to play a thief? DONT LEAVE EVIDENCE BEHIND.

You want to murder? Get a strong military community that backs you up, or systematically kill all the other strong players.

What shall it profit a man to gain immersive models of player interaction in an MMO, and lose his cheese for two weeks?

Junkfist has a point. And the point of the alpha, if I recall correctly, is to test systems exactly like the ones that the devs have been implementing re:security, so in the long term JTG is actually providing an important service to the system. On the other hand, he is also an ass who goes out of his way to decrease the player base and make the game less fun for all, and then who starts whining about people ruining the game for all when his murderer-in-training gets whacked and he faces the proscpect of creating a 13th? 14th? -ish character -- and this time without macros.

:(

We don't care that you killed JTG or anyone else who leaves scents. But it does make me sad when I'm playing with my newbie buddies and showing them the ropes and suddenly I hear that some clueless nub who doesn't even HAVE tresspassing or theft got ganked in one hit and now his day of work is ruined.

Look, the point is that people who commit crimes know the consequences of their actions, and are hardly innocent. However, newbies and people who just want to build a town ARE innocent, and persecuting them all is kind of mean.

I totally agree, that does suck. All I am saying is that living near JTG probably increases your chance of having that happen by an order of magnitude, if not more. If you are willing to take that risk, fine, but if you dont want to have that happen...

It's a shame that new players got killed as collateral damage, JTG on the other hand chose the play the game this way. It seems quite a few new players have been killed recently and not all by the same folk, I hear a number of goons managed to gank a number of their own , admittedly though your not all one team.

the ability to summon and kill offline players and the ability to build high and strong walls to keep griefers out do not strike me as "immersive models of player interaction" so much as very effective anti-griefer tools. Good to have, but only necessary because JTG was an ass.

He didn't test them, he used exploits that people already knew to cause maximum grief to players and constantly fills up the forum with offensive trash.

He is absolutely, categorically NOT adding value to the game. The only thing of value he quite possibly added was his post on SA which brought a heap of new players to the game.

Don't glorify his douche baggery just because Jorb said he was helping point out problem areas.

I wouldn`t go so far as to say i was glorifying it. But its going to happen anyway, and an alpha is the perfect time to see how bad it can get. I`m going to have to agree with Jorb here, so lets just agree to disagree.

Do you know anything about fuedalism? For hundreds of years of human history, people built castles to protect themselves and their towns from "griefers". In real life. Please take a minute to think about this. Then tell me that this is not an immersive gaming experience.

JTG wrote:They do not want us to play at all, If we won't be their slaves.

ferinex wrote:Alright, so, you are saying we aren't doing anything to help you, when we can. You're right. We can. We could invite those goons who want to play legitly into our cities to live behind our walls, and frankly, I'd do it. I would. But those walls aren't just protecting me, they are protecting other citizens too. I happen to know these citizens and will talk to them about bring in immigrants, even if we need a designated refugee area for you to live in separate from us. I'm speaking of Stillmeadow, by the way.

My only other point I have to make right now: I warned many goons as they entered the game to disassociate themselves with JTG/Goku. I told them this would happen, that the rest of Haven would not accept them, and end up genociding them. That is what's happening right now, a goonicide.

What... The... Fuck?

Feri didn't mean anything like that, he said he may try and see if he can offer refuge for the goons, where in there does it say slaves?
Stillmeadow hasn't done anything to you or the goons, in fact we haven't done anything to anyone.
I know this is the reaction you were wanting from one of us but I thought I should at least clear it up first.
