If I'm not making anything up, I recall there being an announcement some time after Brodgar was established in the 2nd world which told everyone that the effect from beehives would no longer stack on top of each other and allow mega-growth.

I recall stumbling upon a little farm run by some guy, who I helped replant. It turns out he had so many beehives, the plants went to the next stage after being planted in just about 5 minutes or so. He was working like a slave. (What sucks though is that the announcement mentioned before took place just 2 days after I met the invidividual and his farm. After the announcement, he abandoned the farm and I have never heard from him since.)

Trying to determine what the beehive affective range is, but so far i'm not to sure yet. (ad hoc testing.)
But it seems more likely that the range is not 13 tiles from the beehive, but 9 tiles. (with the beehive itself being tile zero.)
(assuming the range is no circular but squared, because all other ranges seems to be squared to. At the moment at least.)

9) inner square, toughing the gfx beehive circle with its corners.
13) outer square, but inside the gfx beehive circle.

However, some screens also seem to suggest both ... like on one side its 9(South in this case), while on a other side is seems actually to be roughly following the gfx circle(East in this case). :?
(not entirely impossible, but whiteout knowing the normal growth flow of a field in general thats kinda hard to substantiated.)

Anyone has some additional info in this area that might support or disproof this idea.

area of coverage is the green circle when you go to place a new beehive...

Yep, Thats the Gfx hint that comes with the beehive. But thats not necessarily the effective active beehive coverage.
Pretty sure the two don't directly match up at the moment.

I'm pretty sure they do. I accidentally left a small corner of my wheat field outside the green circle, and it was very obvious that the crops just outside were one stage behind when the crops inside the circle were all ready to harvest.
Once a man has changed the relationship between himself and his environment, he cannot return to the blissful ignorance he left. Motion, of necessity, involves a change in perspective.

Erm, thanks, but need a little bit more than that.
I need to see it, in a way thats not just sercom stantial, of it will not take away my doubt. (Needles to say I saw things that point me into the other direction.)

Figure I better start plotting a none ad hoc test. ...
(Suggestion are welcome, biggest problem I see at the moment is a timer to remind me to check the test area.)

about the quantity of the beehives.. i've made a little test planting two fields with 6 carrots on each and 1 BH near the first and 3 BH near the second.. carrots in the second field wins around 10-20 min on each stage of growing.. so it works i think, but need more tests to make it more obvious..
btw can 2 (3,4,etc) BH pollinate 1 crop, so it will grow 'in minutes'?)
am I who I think I am?

If thats the case ... I at least hope to learn why I got the wrong idea.

I have a beehive that only seems to pollinate 10 tiles to the east, but at least 11 to the west. Really not sure what's going on there. I guess can do some more rigorous testing on it later.
