Certainly. Ancestral worship as a system needs a serious rethinking.

I love the change but it's downright foolish to not use a custom client now. Longer sight and x-ray will be indispensable.

I think most of us already knew that.

For example, I've considered making fires and torches such that they keep wildlife away to some extent. That was never meaningful as long as the wildlife wasn't actually dangerous, though. It can also be argued that animal levels should be removed -- we've considered "freezing" the foxes to their current level 4, and boars to level 7. That way, they wouldn't deal lethal damage in one hit (making HHP more meaningful), and create a more reasonable "ramp" to PvE difficulty.

Is it possible to make animals "grow"? I don't know how it works but say an animal is spawned on the server. It's birth-time is recorded. If n00b runs away, then server records that "there was a Boar in this area here and it was born on this date". Next-time someone comes along, the server goes "So the Boar here would now be X days old, so make him level Y". So for every day / week a Boar is old, it gets tougher and tougher? Mainly to simulate some kind of growth but also make older animals tougher.

Of course it would also rape newbs because non-newbs will be killing the animals they encounter... Then again, naybe it will encourage people to actively kill the local wild-life to keep it safe?

After raging a bit about getting killed by a ninja boar whilst carrying a breeding pair of silkmoths (that have since been replaced), I think I'm fine with this. It makes things that much more, to say it a dorfy way, "FUN".

Love this idea, but as far as I know don't animals just get despawned at some point? Perhaps this function could be removed, but won't a number of animals spawning and not going cause lag on the server? I don't know really.

Great idea though. Would at least work the same way as levels, forcing people to walk out from their villages and find the stronger animals for better LP.

Except for the issues that Gilbertus seems to be having lately. Won't even work.
