To be fair murder and animosity are part of the game as well. Just as there should be incentive to farm, hunt, and gather, there should be a reason to murder, raid, and siege too. Land and resources are a nice draw but having other spoils is just grand.
Anyone murdering lowbie to mid level characters for their skulls isn't going to be doing it for the lp since there are a myriad of better ways to get more lp in less time with less attention on a more consistent basis with less work and risk. What you are going to have is desire to fight players on your level as that is actually beneficial to you.
