why not using Straw Basket/Birchbark and Wicker Basket?

Well you see when it comes time to "king" the pieces, you need a way to mark that piece. Baskets are nice because they are smaller but the only way to "mark" them is to make them red and that risks destroying them. It also requires repair materials to reset the game. That's why I chose crates.

Last world I used boulders vs crates and the boulders could be "kinged" by changing into runestones. I didn't like it too much because it's irreversible and the runestones are annoying to destroy after the game.

Shoulda used clay and metal cauldrons

Just have a few extra runestones around that are saved specifically for that.

Started doing a chess set last world, but I never got it finished. i couldn't decide what to use for pieces.

Yeah I want to do chess but if I wanted to use bronze steeds for the knights, how would I tell which team the knight is fighting for?

If we had some way to change the color of things it would help quite a bit towards making a chess set.

I believe this as good of an opportunity as any to suggest the crafting of actual game boards, you know with their own GUI's and such. Like on Ultima Online. Ah, the hours wasted away playing chess in Delucia.

it is also very unlikely that someones underground vault is directly underneath him.
