if snare was implemented, i would like like it to force you to move at crawling speed and the length of time of the forced crawl speed to be a function of your attack power vs their defence. i think the snare should be automatic on a movement hit rather than seperate combat skill.

What the hell is a new toon supposed to do if they're spotted by raiders then? I got killed earlier by some russian speaking fellows who chased me for ages in my boat. One left the fight and grabbed a new boat, came back and they eventually surrounded me, i got onto land and kept trying to clip them etc but to no avail. Only had one bucket on me. Its already difficult enough to escape combat without being trained in this shit, making it harder to run away creates an even larger disparity between new hermits and bearcape wearing sword wielding asshats.

a new player? you are suppose to attempt to run and if you get hit you are pretty much dead. you should die if you get attacked as you have no life and you have no combat skills. if you make this game so that someone with no health and no combat stats and no knowledge of the combat system can get away after being engaged in combat, then you make it so that you are never going to be able to kill someone who is even stats with you. there is nothing saying you cant try and run after the first punch snares you, you just have to try and not get hit again.

I'm saying the current system is difficult enough as is but i'm not saying I want to make it easier. I suppose I should have wrote it less incredulously as it was actually a bit of a plea for advice in the situation. I'm not pushing for it to be made easier, and i know that H&H has never really been a game that gives any quarter to the new player whatsoever, but please don't make it even more difficult.

You need to carry much more water, of as high a quality as you can.
Also zoom out as far as you can and use as few clicks as you can (each click slows you down a bit) in normal boatchasing. If they are trying to surround you obviously try not to move so predictably.
Know your home area well, keep boats stashed at narrow land crossings if possible.
Have friends who you can call to help you out, being a hermit is really hard...

Also not everywhere is really violent, you can try and relocate... I'm not sure where is peaceful right now.

less experienced ones usually just run in a circle button mashing the mouse so they r easy enuf, rather experienced players wanting to be able to kill faggits like valten without having to movement punch him 50 times.

Already there is a major flaw: clicking shouldn't slow you down at all. The calculations should be done in such way in the server so that there is practically no such delay caused by clicking.
