An example of where regulation is needed would be fossil fuels or pollution in general.

Or fishing. Not that a whaling Scandinavian would care about depletion of marine life stocks.

Awesome! Could you think of any examples where regulation exists but isn't needed?

Well yeah, plenty, and I bet Wolfang agrees that there are some areas that don't need regulation either, but he never said everything needed regulation.

There are plenty of examples for those, I don't think anyone would deny that.

But the point is that you can't paint all government regulation with one brush. Some should stay, some should go, some should be increased. It should be decided on a case by case basis, rather than by sweeping statements like yours which, no offence, reek of demagoguery.

Apologies. I found the idea that giving taxpayers' money to failing corporate giants was an essential task of government -- without which we would be in deep shit -- to be funny, as we are obviously in deep shit precisely because the government insists on doing that. :)

Maybe not, but you can have an idea about how government regulations generally work and be against them because of that, as would be the case here. I am not saying that there aren't cases where one could perhaps argue that government regulation fills a purpose, but my observation is that they are usually abused as a tool for social engineering rather than used for benign purposes. Demagoguery or not.
