How on earth are people killing crickets? I hit one once and it knocked me out instantly.

Try to level up your yellow bile and blood. Make sure to use a defensive maneuver such as Dodge when attacking to minimize damage.

I've walked for hours and it's still as bright as standing in boston. Either there is no darkness in the beta or you have to be HELLA far from civilization.

mah my friend went to the very edge of the island and swam 10 minutes out into the ocean its still as bright as in boston :p so i think its no darkness in beta

It took me a good two days of walking (probably a good 8 hrs or so) in the alpha to reach the uncivilized areas in the alpha. I expect it to take at least that long if not longer. Also, there was less in the way to block your path and I didn't have to go around as many rivers/hills.

If ya look at my screenshot up there that cliff spans the entire west (appalachian mountains by any chance?). I'm guessing that's the test before you get to the high tier zone seeing as you would need mountaineering, rope, and hella lot of stamina and hp if they fall.

On a side note, I feel like hes staring into my soul......
