That's perfect, totally. Thanks so much. Sorry for not being on (I'll probably be able to be on in 30 min or so), but I'm busy atm.

Um, what you failed to realize is that once we realized 10 of us could literally not take a single one of you when we tried to group (so we couldn't defend ourselves), we were pretty unhappy. Also, it was 1 medium-level player, 1 high-level player being nice to us but not "with us" (Blaze is cool), and like 20 people who'd been playing for less than 12 hours.

After you killed Goku, he went off to cool down, leaving those 20 newbies kicked out of town (it ended up reverting to BLANK's property at some point, so I couldn't go on it anymore), scared, and unprotected.. Up until then, he and Blaze had been our only protection against guys who went, "hey they're goons but I have 40 melee I'm going to go kill them all and deconstruct all their stuff and it'll sure show them", and our impression of you all was,

Hmm, how many people had actually attacked you before that attack - and how many non-goons had been attacked by goons? I can understand you were feeling scared - I've been scared to go back to my old home to remove additional possessions, ever since some goons attacked another neighbour who was doing the same thing. What I'm reading now suggests I need not have been scared - I could have knocked out or killed any of you - but the neighbour you chased off was a better fighter than me, and apparently a whole bunch of goons mobbed him. (In case you are not keeping score, Goonheim the first was built on semi-stolen land, Goku having driven off the previous inhabitants by persistent griefing; some of us have been coming back to retrieve our remaining possessions periodically.)

Colbear wrote:So we have a hostile playerbase that doesn't like us, especially Sami who for some reason seems to really, really hate us, god knows why. And we have the forums baying for our blood everything JTG does something retarded or says something stupid. Anyone who killed JTG could one-hit us, easily -- and when Jon purged the other town, he 5-hit our better players, and he COULDN'T take JTG on, so what does that say about it? You could basically kill us all on a whim, without taking any damage, and you'd just proven yourself willing to commit a crime on our turf, so to speak.

I personally have nothing against goons - except that I'm hearing that some goons, such as yourself, feel a need to remain loyal to JTG/Goku. I normally judge people by their behaviour primarily, and secondarily their statements. JTG was a mad dog who needed to be put down, and I'm overjoyed that someone did him in. At this point the slate can potentially be wiped clean - or it can accumulate a log of new offenses in both directions.

Colbear wrote:No one went back until we were all SURE it was safe, and by then, stuff was kind of fucked up, and a lot of us were unhappy about it, and your mercy definitely doesn't come across as mercy when "I didn't kill anyone innocent" ends up being, "lol can't port to town idol does anyone have tresspassing to move our stuff?"

I can see how you didn't think of that, since normally towns are a bunch of moderately-levelled players who can totally rebuild and defend themselves and stuff if their leader dies, while our town was basically "20 newbies flock to JTG for help ps what is this game i don't know what's going on should i get skills what do they do".

It normally doesn't matter all that much if people's combat skills suck, because there is very little PVP action. Much of the player base prefers co-operation to conflict. Others are scared of being summoned and murdered while offline, if they leave clues. Combat is most important for hunting; certainly that's what I use my combat skills and tools for.

The game was pretty much safe - until JTG started trying to liven things up, and started teaching newbies to play the same way he does. After that the killings started, and not all of them were of people with clues pointing to them. Even so, Jon's rampage probably killed more innocent [no clue pointing to them] people total than had been killed before that in all of H&H's history. And in his defense - I think he thought that those he one hit were merely alts, used to grief without leaving a clue pointing back to the real perpetrator - not that this is any comfort to the victims.

You people can be part of that safe and peaceful milieu - assuming trust can be built on both sides. But to be part of it, you have to really be part of it. At this point, I fear that the next person griefed is going to presume the culprit is one of JTG's pack, which they will equate with goons. Hopefully they will track the clue to somewhere other than New Goonheim, and not have someone claiming credit in the forums who also claims to be a goon. And it's not just outright griefing either that upsets people; pointless destruction of unshared resources will also get you hated. It leaves the other folks using those resources with the unpleasant choice of claiming them - blocking public access - or losing access themselves. As an example, I don't like claiming or fortifying forest terrain to keep people from killing newly replanted saplings, before they even produce any wood - and folks trying to hunt the forest don't like it either. (I've compromised by no longer replanting trees outside my village walls.)

Anyway, enough rambling preaching. Good luck, and if you keep the peace, you are quite unlikely to be attacked - except perhaps by JTG or his emulators.

Again kobnach, I've died 13 times and my new alt is still stronger than you. I have many alts with over 40k in lp stashed because I don't care about playing them, and thus never bought any skills than what I needed to use them for.

Revenge, or even trying to put me down is pointless, all you will do is cause more drama and create more upset people which will bite you in the ass far more than it will ever affect me.
