Okay, so you have a guy. Big and beefy and a min of 300 in each stat. He doesnt want to make his own stuff, so he steals everyone elses. Rampages, kills, destroys. EXACTLY what your whining about right?

Then you have the oppressed numbers, getting rather pissed about having their shit trampled. They have a few options at this point. (or... Reasonable options)

1. Quit.
2. Ignore it.
3. Pay asshat for protection.
4. Gather an army of archers (10-20 should be enough and easy to find). Lure said asshat to some place surrounded by trees (and all the archers hide behind them). All take aim at once, and FIRE at once! Big and beefy asshat dead, with minimal effort. Minimal losses. Hell, you dont even need high stats, good items, or any real skill and you have just taken out the biggest baddest guy around.

Stop being a bitching blibbering idiot. Find solutions, they are all over the place.

Anyways how the hell do you guys get yourselves killed so often anyways? If your careful, you can go months without a single death, LIKE ME! Stop making yourself a target, and start making friends. Stop taking a game so seriously. Your only making it more entertaining for them

5. hire a hitman to track their scents and kill them

This. This here. This is painting a target on your own head. For future reference, shit like this, and associating with people who are generally thought of as little cunts get you raided. ENDLESSLY.

The noob codexia painted a target on it's head too, so did cakeport, crimson isle, flame and numerous others eh? It's just that wv is a conglomerate of dicks who get their giggles from destroying others peoples work (they also make up bullshit reason for doing so; like anyone is buying it by now). No matter though I don't play by anyones rules and I have weathered your dickery before I can do it again.

If you don't like it so much then do something about it..

Well, at it's essence that's pretty close.

More than just wanting to be on an even playing field with others though, I think it's unrealistic and damaging to the game to have people who have played for 2 years to be untouchable when going up against people who have played for 6 months.
It's unrealistic for characters to live forever and continue becoming more powerful for ever, it damages immersion, it discourages new starters, and I would be surprised if it doesn't lead to the players of those uber characters getting fairly bored.

A fair while ago there was talk about an aging and eventual death mechanic. I think that would probably go a long way towards lowering the standard deviation of character power. The changes they're making to the combat system also seem like they're going to make numbers more effective, which is a good thing (although when your opponent can one shot and it takes you 10 shots to kill your opponent you're going to need stupid amounts of people to overwhelm them).

I don't really mind having PvP in game, and I don't even mind having a powerful faction like wayneville throwing their weight around, but suggesting that their victims can "do something about it" under the current mechanics is a bit of a stupid suggestion.

Although I can only second the rest of your statements or at least understand them, this is just not true (anymore). You may have invented this game for your personal fun, not imagening that there would ever be a larger playerbase than you and a couple of friends. BUT: Things have changed now and although you might think this game is only about your own enjoyment it has evolved farther into a kind of network you are too involved in to just exclude you from outer criticism.

You can be considered the head/developer/boss of a social network which gives you inputs and for which you create outputs. Of course there always is the option to just shut down the server for good and say good bye to all your players. But I would almost go so far as to deny that this is even an option anymore.
Not that you would have to fear real repercussions from this, but abandoning/destroying a network that is now several hundred people strong always has implications which are considered at least subconsiously.

Recently another variable has entered the "battle field". Where social networks and cultural capital are not physically ascertainable, money is. You certainly do not owe anyone anything in a legal sense, since we are talking about donations here, but still. Your sentence about criticism to be welcome points into this direction and although you might chose to complete tasks which are fun to do first, you are still well aware of major problems and at least think about solutions.

Another point to think about might be future implications. Although you never planned to make money with this game, and well maybe you never will despite its enourmous potential, it certainly would look good in the portfolio of someone who decides to get into software developement (that is why I was surprised to hear you are a law student btw, although your recent posts clearly have the logic and order of compulsory statements.)

This is by no means a normative statement forcing you into any direction, it is a mere determination of the status quo.

Well, Travis, they are all free to track all the scents they want.

Yes here you have it admitted, FOR ME, i dont care about you, and you dont care about me, you have fun farming, i have fun raiding, your farming harms me, my raiding harms you. While its true that raiding is more harmful than farming you still cant deny the fact that you harass my options by pure existance. Jorb elaborated that a few sites ago, maybe go read that again and try to understand it.

You better pick up the pace, buddy. Just out of spite, I've been starting 5 new characters every day, building claims and log cabins in the grid that you hunt in. I hope that you like it <3

Wow, in all honesty I never thought of that. So the game becomes a "spite against greifers" game...lol
Not exactly fun, but I suppose it is a reasonable response. When I think about it, if a group of grifers, bent on destroying one kind of gameplay rule, then those "restricted" from playing the game as they want to by those actions could respond by doing exactly what the griefers dont want. Again, though I can see no fun in it at all, I guess vengence is all that's left once ya cross the line and accept you will never be able to play the game for the fun it holds in possiblity, leaving you with nothing but vengence.

So if I understand what you are doing, you keep making accounts until you discover one in the appropriate area and just make hearthfires/claims and cabins from one hearth secret to another and reduce the whole area to level 1. Nasty, but I guess if there's nothing else to do to play normlly...then it's at least something to do period. PM me a hearth secret from the area and I'll help out...LOL

Indeed they are. They are also free to throw themselves in the river. Neither of these actions however allow them to play their game in peace.
