joshrmt wrote:Hey, just wanted to say hello to the Haven & Hearth community. My name is Josh, and my game development team has been developing a sandbox game that has been deeply inspired by games like Haven & Hearth. I just wanted to give a shout out to the Haven & Hearth development team (and Salem!). It's a niche and risky style of game, and many game developers are afraid to build games like this. I am hoping to go above and beyond what other sandbox games have done. I've been at work on the game engine for over a year now, and it's finally coming together to a playable state. The great thing is, we are reaching out to the community to create many of the game's features.

Here is our feature list:
- A fully player-run world, where every creature is controlled by players.
- Permadeath ensures that each player takes responsibility for their actions.
- A powerful crafting system that allow players to create homes or dungeons.
- Dynamic procedurally generated sandbox world with no 'safe zones'.
- Every character is always 'logged in', resulting in a true persistent world.
- Play as any creature in the game, including wolves, vampires, or dragons.
- Built-in scripting system allows players to create artificial intelligence.
- Support for thousands of scripted characters on a single game server.
- Fully customizable game interface allows players to play the way they want.

We are 2 months away from a beta test. We'll be launching at Kickstarter at the end of November. Please follow our dev blog, wiki, and forum for information about the game:

Came back to this site after a long while, and yeah I'm glad to see more survival genres appearing in a decent way.
After the whole WarZ fiasco I'm starting to think that Sergey Titov and his band of trolls makes this game's developers and moderator actually look good in my view.
Yes. Sergey Titov, the man who made one of the worst games in the world.

Basically Topia is less of a active based MMORPG, it is more of a 'remote control' mmo-monster-server.

Tonky knows business and social media. I like.

Proper Public Relations means a ton on how experienced staff are to how confident you are of your own skills.
And I don't just mean programming and talking.

Unlike Sergey... *spits*

Also, Zero actual MMORPG actually implements properly scaled ingame-scripting languages alongside a sandbox mmo.

I'm guessing you'll stick to lua right?

Also, I'm pretty sure that people who loves to bot would benefit the most from this game. At least their scripting skills is not something illegal or bannable right?

Hell, I imagine a market in scripting precisely because people will create and sell one combat ai, then some people would make advanced scripts that counters ai...

COMPETITION!

But according to my wise almighty overlords in Washington DC, that can't happen! Only Obama and Bernanke have the power to stir demand!

you sure have the balls to name this "inspired by Haven & Hearth" and continue on your advertisement here.

Your quote doesn't list Haven & Hearth Tonky..... You're slipping. And even if it did, you see Jorb or Loftar around here lately? Nuh uh.....

I guess they figured with the lag/slow demise of haven and with Salem in active Development more people would currently be familiar with Salem. Would it assuage your anger if I get them to add Haven & Hearth to the influences on the Kickstarter?

No. Research more.

i know you hardly care about integrity, pain.
it doesnt change the fact that they dont give credit to where its due, and whatever reason doesnt really matter, it just says they found it not worth mentioning there, but here, and i despise such an attitude.
(btw, i dont think your reasoning is correct, remember their first advertising attempt thread on salem forums was locked for advertising and you actually remade one for them to make it look "not-advertising-attempt".)

I was not only given permission by both the Mods and Moo to make a Topia thread but they even pushed me to when I pointed out that although i'm well spoken, my writing sucks. why are you always so damned angry about everything? And what makes you think you know anything about my integrity?

Very simply? These guys are making a really fun game and want to share it with people who play similar games. Why people like you, Dallane and Chief insist on attacking this process is beyond me.

Incidentally the mod who locked the original thread? Sevenless? has now pledged towards the games Kickstarter and hangs out with us in the IRC. God forbid a game that might be fun comes out.....
