Good luck from the founder of Ekunia and the Stiveland project.

Haha, very true. Best of luck with your game :)

However, I aim for Colonies to have a different feel from HnH. Through our forums and player discussions, we've begun to mold a world which is pretty unique ;)

Eternally wrote:Hello Jungletoe,

even i randomly found your thread with your game and wanted to see some videos! but the media site on your website doesnt have any. :|

when will you post some?

There's a video on the main page (http://colonies-game.com).

Eternally wrote:another thinking was that your graphics need a little bit correcture. as an example: the brown floor and the chests should have a little bit more difference in their color.

A lot of the graphics are placeholders.

Eternally wrote:btw.... i get an error when i want to download your game.

Umm... what?

Unrelated news update:
Since the beginnings of W7 in Haven are now underway, I'm taking down the servers for a week (starting last Thursday) to improve the world generation code and add more village options. Throughout the summer, large weekly updates will be released constantly.
Thanks,

Yeah, I just call them continuation projects. Most people on here call them clones, if I'm correct, but actually, my game is going to diverge somewhat similarly to yours.

This is one thing.

Jungletoe wrote:I also wanted to make it a bit more simple than HnH, which is the reason I made a skill-based combat system and simplified stats. I do not aim for this to be an HnH clone, but I do hope to recreate the wonderful world of HnH inside of a retro themed game.

This is definitely not.

But in any case, this topic isn't about Stiveland, so I'll just ask a question relating to its stability: How long has its longest test-world been, so far?

Im loving your game until now, hope you change the combat system and make a bigger screen and improve character personalization but it looks really cool, it would be a shame if you end making it pay2win or p2p, keep the good work!

Thanks. You can increase the screen size in "options". Character personalization and better combat is of course in my plans.

It'll end up being a 1 time payment with extra customizable shit that you can pay for on the side (all aesthetic crap that has no bearing on the gameplay at all-- some people are into that shit and I need money to keep the server online soooo).

BTW:
I'm releasing the final demo version this weekend. You can play this version for free. I'll get some pre-order page up once I actually think the game is good enough. For now, it's all about adding content ;)
Thanks,

How much will Colonies cost, if you can estimate it right now?

We're now entering closed development. We only have 1% of the planned features implemented, so I plan to crank out features this week. Jackard is now our additional GUI/general artist guy, so a lot of our interface will be reworked to be more professional.

I've already been working on some stuff like mushrooms and new world generation:

Particles also got an update:

This is the most exciting part yet. I'm being entirely serious.

His designers are really awesome looking and his compact GUI is efficient and friendly. Dude is good.

Jackard advised me to make forests look more interesting.

The result:

Our other gfx artist is going to touch some stuff up on that and make it fit the game a bit better, but the point still stands ;)
