Did you try expanding foam? That works to me always, no matter how deep they are, the foam gets them, stick to them, fills every hole and they starve to death closed in their own nest.

you mean like the expanding foam poison? they dont seem to sell that stuffs anymore. though i would like them to... if its just like expanding sealent foam then no I haven't, ya see we got two holes to block up, on outside (easy) and the one inside. (impossable to find) if i seal the outside hole, they will swarm into the house.

Yes I was thinking about sealent foam. But if you are not able to find the inside hole, then you are done. You have to wait for winter. But I am wondering, how does your wall from inside look like, if you are not able to find the hole in it :)

Does anyone know these bugs? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicadidae

They are the ultimate distracting awesomeness in summertime.

you can only see the hole from the outside under the deck on the second floor. the inside hole is somewhere on the wall just above the panels in my ceiling. I removed a few (broke one of them) and could not find the hole or any sign of the damn things. but I know they are coming through the wall there because they come out of the hole around my light fixture, but i recently sealed that up with duct tape. I think the inside hole might be blocked from sight by all that insulation. the room i live in is sunk about 3 feet beneath the ground. with a window at ground level to look out of.

Yep, this summer in Croatia we saw and especially hear zillions of them :) They are annoying when you want to sleep and they keep "crook-crook" all night.

Turn on your speakers: max volume, go to the url and click "cicada's song" or "cicadas in greece", then imagine that there is +40ºC, blazing sun and no shadows where to hide.

That's one of many reasons for siesta.
