Did you even read what you quoted?
Trade, beg threaten humiliate yourself for enough wrought and steel and just do it

The game is only in alpha testing, so there will be plenty more resets in the future (possibly). This only happens when the devs have to implement something that requires a wipe or if the devs want to see how playing from scratch in a new environment would be like.

Yes, I also rather dislike the idea of loosing my hard-earned stats and equipment, but it's inevitable. Just play for the moment and meet and talk with people. Have fun. This isn't Runescape where you can grind for a few months, get a level 138 character, and then keep everything forever. This game adds more challenge because you can lose your character at any given moment, whether it be from a server reset or from a player kill. If anything, I think that the resets are actually beneficial, in a way, since it gives you an easier avenue for quitting without feeling as if you didn't cover any loose ends.

If some basic regeneration was added to the world, I'm sure resets could be a lot more rare. Say, something like trees growing back. HM.
As for metal? I think too many mines are not being used and are just sitting around walled while there are plenty of people that would love to have one. I think the location of every dug mine in the world should be make public in some in-game mechanic/map and village activity information for those mines too.

So say, if you have a mine, everyone looking at some world map knows that your mine is there and knows if your village has authority.(Or if it even has an idol) That way unused mines (And yes, there are mines out there that are dug up but not even walled) can be taken over by prospective villages. People will definitely go after inactive mines first, and if EVERY mine goes active (Which will probably never happen) actual competition for mines can begin. Make those mines have unlimited ore and implement some more siege options and you've got the makings of a permanent world map.

Tree regeneration was actually implemented not too long ago, but is now temporarily disabled due to the mechanic allowing trees to grow in awkward locations, etc.

As for the mines, I definitely think that rustroot should allow you to prospect for already built mines as a way to solve that problem. Although it can be annoying, there shouldn't be a map displaying all of the abandoned mines. It would both detract from the risk associated with raiding a suspected abandoned mine (and getting killed if it wasn't truly abandoned...) and makes it less of a challenge to find your own mine through prospecting (which is a real pain in the ass, but it feels very rewarding when you find one).

More siege options would definitely be awesome.

tl;dr: The game is only in its early stages of testing, so things aren't as permanent as a game that isn't in alpha or beta testing. The best thing to do is to accept that things are technically temporary while also just playing for the moment and enjoying the player interaction. Listing locations of resources is a bad alternative to the issue of abandoned mines because it makes the game less challenging.

I know some of these issues have already been addressed by others, but I wanted to throw in my two cents.

Also, to answer the OP's question, no one really knows when the map will be reset. In my opinion, world 3 will last a lot longer than the others lasted.

When you were a kid, did you refuse to build sand castles because the high tide will wash them away? It's not about destination, it's the journey that matters.

In 100 years, unless you're a one in a million person, nothing you've done will matter.

This is also the case in any MMO, if this is truly how you feel you'd never play online games, they are pointless for anything but social tools.

I think the game needs regular resets. What do you do when you have 300+ in every skill, 500+ in combat, stats >9000, one of every mine and every high q resource. all thats left is killing each other and that even gets boring. the resets give everyone a fresh start, puts goals back into the game, and levels the playing field (if only for a time).
I think it's made of bubbles and hate.

What goals would it get me who already got all that now? To see if could do it again? I know I can so I might as well just quit.

Retard, it needs an end-game.

It's far too easy and all we have now is midgame stuff while early game stuff is added. This is how all MMOs work though so whatever, endgame is rarely/never added, always cater to the new guys. :)

Reminds me of Age of Empires or Empire Earth.

I just spent 16 hours on this world map defeating 12 AI's.

My city is huge my resources are booming... but wait, once they are dead what is there left to do?

For me at the moment, I kinda hope a wipe is coming soon. At least then my skills wouldn't be so terrible compared to everyone else's.

But im sure theres lots of people out there that have lots of skills/items they really don't want to try and obtain again.

all in all, its just a interesting way of watching cave men turn into villagers.
