I am currently working really hard to find enough bones and tap root to get all of the things I need for the Palisade I want around my plot but thankfully because I have built into a cliff I will only need half of the normal wall costs to get it done. Even so tap root is still tricky at the moment - not because it is hard to find but just because I keep getting jumped on my ruddy boars! I need to spend a day or so just leeching around my area to raise my health back to full but at least there is always plenty to do.
What have you been getting up to Shask? Maybe we can help one another as we both stumble about this place.

So what I tend to do is head off with nothing but two pieces of cooked rabbit and my tree equipment in toe (bone saw and stone axe). The reason for the rabbit is because I have to cross a big swamp to get to the lake so I get covered in leeches but so long as I keep my food bar high they do me more good then harm.
Once I get to the clay lake I build a crate by the kiln and then start making what ever it is I want. Once the crate is full I just lift it up and then harth port back home with a stock full of new goodies.
