Jorb aside, I am more than well aware of that. In fact, my initial version of the program that generated that file did just that, but Jorb insisted that it be textured.

Wouldn't it be possible to have a webpage with some css magic so that the texture is tiled behind a semi-transparent map. Gives the small file size, along with the bonus of looking nice. This might be necessary considering the new map will no doubt be bigger.

Edit: It works:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/css"
                    href="http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/style/xhtml2.css"?>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 2.0//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/DTD/xhtml2.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2002/06/xhtml2/" xml:lang="en"
      xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
      xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.w3.org/2002/06/xhtml2/
                          http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/SCHEMA/xhtml2.xsd"
>
  <head>
    <title>World Map</title>
    <style type="text/css">
     body {background-image:url('texture.png')} <! Put the file name of the purdy texture here>
    </style>
  </head>
  <body>
    <img src="080309-better.png" style="opacity:0.9;filter:alpha(opacity=90)"/> <! Replace the source with the name of the small size no texture map>
  </body>
</html>

What is most obvious from this map is that the world is getting too crowded. Soon, there wont be ANY Mordor left, and thus far less good hunting grounds.

So when's the map reset? :)

I meant that I did not insist on the map being rendered with textures. :)
