Actually, American black bears and Brown bears never want a conflict with Humans at all. They'd rather avoid you at all costs. The only time you'd actually confront one is when you or someone else has food nearby. However, Grizzly bears are a bit different. They'd avoid you unless you felt in danger, then you're screwed. xD Though I think HnH's Bear is based off the Grizzly. Either way, Bears DO run in real life, but if you're using realism, try to kill a bear with your fist or a sling. :D

Bowhunting a ~250kg grizzly bear. It ran after the (single) shot, died 250 yards away. Animals don't run? Pfft, they'll run if you hurt them enough and they don't know what's happening.

The only thing I'd like to see changed about bears is to have bleed damage from arrowheads and have to chase down the soon to be corpse without the punching or yoyo behaviour, providing your shot was good enough of course.

I know from first hand experience that when a bear is swimming, and it sees a boat, the last thing it would do would be to swim to your boat to attack you.
