The main way to gain LP is from curiosities which are repeatable, not from getting new things.

Take a cone from a fir tree and 4 branches. Craft -> Curiosities -> Cone Cow. Put it in the study grid on your character sheet. 20 min later, LP profit. Make another cow and do it again.

Even if you manage to spend all discovery LP without buying any skills that give curiosities (like hunting or foraging), you can still catch ladybugs to get unstuck. It'll be really slow progress if you paint yourself into a corner like this, though.

I'm stuck on my island because I didn't have the foresight to leave a rabbit corpse in storage and died when I got stupid pulling Auroch hair. Lol

I like how its weeding out most of the idiots from the good players, too. :D

I find it very suspicious that every single player who dislikes the new update is an idiot, and every single player who likes it is a good player.

I just don't understand how creating these corners is a good idea though. It's introduced a whole lot of linearity into the game that doesn't need to be there. I think I understand the decision behind this system "you learn mostly by study, they're LEARNING points after all". But you also learn from doing, no? Experience comes from experiencing things...

I can attest that I like the new system and am a terrible player.

You have to try pretty darn hard to get into that corner. Not buying foraging or hunting is not exactly a common thing to do.

Cone cows will get you out of the corner much faster than ladybugs, anyway.

Don't you need lumberjacking or something for them?

Bein' a twisted and evil player who gets my jollies from playing against other players one of my first acts was to steal a rabbit bone. Admittedly the person who left it unguarded had three others and I put a bunch of blocks into his house for him and a couple of leeches into the basket as a sort of stealthy recompense but I was still beginning my career as a militant destroyer. : )

I really wanted a saw you see and I hadn't seen a rabbit....

It was worthless. I put the bone back. You can't unlock crafts with stolen or traded stuff, I think. Anyway, having his rabbit bone and my sticks in inventory did NOT enable me to make a saw.

But what the heck, I stood by his house/stockpile of lumber and started building. Five or six minutes later I got bored. Not ONE tick of lp for swooping in and doing the labour while he was out collecting/destroying his stockpile. So I ambled off again.

This system discriminates against griefers! No lp for deforestation, no lp from stolen goods, no lp from using bots... unfair! unfair! Unfair!!

Yes, you can argue that it penalizes all of us but why was this one segment of the population singled out? How can we retain the status quo?
