A 2 tile wide road is normally enough for 1 cart to go trough, for two-way it would be best to have a 3 wide road - 4 wide is just useless.

1 tile is enough for a cart. 2 is usless. 3 is also useless as you can't pass other carts without going offroad. 4 allows carts to pass without hitting.

I'm afraid the little road section I'm working on would have to slow down (or at worst, grind to a halt), primarily because I have to retreat and train up in order to withstand increasingly menacing aggro animals. Also, I'm getting disheartened as the woodcutting griefer/s have now encroached the forests along the road I'm building on. Hopefully if there are nature-loving rangers out there, they would confront those annoying bastards.

What time & time zone do you play? I could spend some time guarding you while you road build, unfortunately the next big chunk of time I'm going to be on is now a week away (Saturday and Sunday basically 12 hours UTC+10)

There's no need for guarding right now, but thanks for the concern. UTC +8 here, though I don't follow a schedule of play time. Since I'm not a member from any village, I treat the road work as a voluntary action. Anyone tough enough to survive Level V+ critters may do continue working on the road.

So it seems that my grandiose ambition of a straight road is kaput.

I no longer have much problems regarding wild game (only a max. of Level III critters appearing on my path for now).
