No, I just went off for a couple of days and had shitloads of chicks, and was like "wat do". Then I put them on 2:2, now that you post this I should rearrange my coops

I'd just punch the low q ones in that situation.

So let's talk most efficient cow layouts?

(Might as well make this the layout thread ;) )

I find the best layout is in groups of 12 cows (Maximum buckets you can carry at any one time)
are cows gatetrapped horizontally triplegate connected, to illustrate:

The space inbetween the two sets of 6 is due to the movement of hearthlings, they move a little shorter of the middle each time so by the third you want a longer movement to reposition them better.

I have used this layout with much success, but 'm sure there are better based on either a full inventory or inventory+2LCs:

I put barrel next to each cow, so I just stick the bucket on the cursor and go right clicking cows and their barrels one by one. Then I come back with a bunch of buckets and take out whatever I need for the tubs. Sure, it uses one more tile per cow (need room for barrels), but it saves a lot of clicks so I think it's worth it.

YES, I like this idea! I'll likely try something like it when my village does it's expansion and we move the animals.

This seems very useful for this single process. Maybe not for 'overall', but very useful for the single process.
I'll have to test it out, perhaps by putting a barrel at the end of every 6 cows or something.

Nah, if you space out barrels too much you'll collide with cows, which means you'll have to put the bucket in inventory, go around and then pick it back up. The whole idea is that it takes the minimum amount of time, so you can milk more often (very useful at high milk quantities) and then just bother with moving milk from barrels to tubs every two days.

Well that depends on how much curd you make then right? Cause I always increase my curd to maximize with my milk, so if I have 48 cows(480L/milking) at Quan40 ,I'll probably have 78 or so curding tubs.

It's going to be a pain for me to try and keep it up but I'm going quantity over quality this world so ;)

I'm not sure my current plans actually allow for room to add this. I would post the entire plans for the area but I'll wait until it's actually done and viewable from spaaaaacce.
