I'd trust someone with only 1 post more than some random poster with a spattering of posts because only a stupid person (who does not have the backing of a strong village) would try to sell something that valuable using their main account. Using alts to sell stuff like that just makes sense. Also, he's done everything asked of him to prove that he does in fact have the gold and would like to find someone willing to buy it. I don't really think mods need to police threads like this, especially if the OP has given no indication that he's scamming or trolling anybody. His posts have been very direct, and he's taken multiple steps to try and prove to you all that it's legit. If someone wants to take the risk and trade with him, that's their decision. I don't need mom and dad telling me that it might not be such a good idea because the user is posting behind a proxy (which honestly has absolutely nothing to do with his interactions with regular users, and is only used as a way of preventing the mods from being the nosy little bastards that they've proven themselves to be).

DatOneGuy wrote:Again though if either of you have a problem with how admins/mods do these kinds of things, there IS a thread for that, you should redirect further inquiries there.

I have. Multiple times. Yet. It. Keeps. Happening.

I didn't say it would stop happening, I said voice your opinion in the right place.
Once again, OP might not be, but how about you think a little, do we know that? Was OPs first post regarding gold in this thread? No, it was a post of a cut off inventory that could have been from any world in another thread just to say "hey I have gold!!", so no, OP is not a good example of using an alt account to sell something, because he started off by spewing shit elsewhere in a manner befitting of a typical troll.

Have you seen a mod post in this thread saying anything of the sort? No. Because they confirmed that while linked to another character, only because they used that proxy.
If I wanted to know his main village I'd have sold him scented shit and tracked it immediately. Do I care? No ,not really, there's a few people talking about gold around the place. I'm not chasing them down. Proxying however is pretty classic trap, I've done it myself before, selling expensive things might be as well but I've claimed set claim to having a silver mine and a gold mine previously and never had any problem. Unless you're broadcasting your location/village (like a fucking retard) before you're strong enough to defend it, there is no problem.

I'm not personally in a position to care about gold at all yet, what's it going to benefit me as an animal caretaker?

I've never once bitched about the moderators being too strict. I think they do a fine job of moderating the forums. My only concerns are with the fact that they're in a position of power (and regard from the admins) on the forums, as well as being regular players of the game like everyone else. It's not even that big of an issue, and I don't really feel that there's any major abuse going on, but I do feel like their status on the forums gives them an (fair or not) advantage in the game world. Nothing major, but just a bunch of little things that keep popping up over and over.

Also, I guess it depends how you define "evade". Jorb himself admitted he wrongly banned me in a drunken rage and that it would "eventually" be lifted. I also made it clear (in my initial thread asking about my account), that I was forums user cobaltjones, so it's not like I'm sneaking around or trying to hide that fact. I've also never understood the mod's need to point out people posting on alt accounts like it's some sort of big deal (unless of course they're using the alt to reply to themselves or something else devious). The way the game is set up forums accounts and game accounts are concordant, and it's known that many users use alternate game accounts to play the game, so I don't understand why it's such a huge deal when it happens on the forums. Often times I'll forget which account I'm logged into and I'll end up posting via an alt accidentally (cobaltjones was originally an alt that I created [to sell the aformentioned pearl], and I ended up posting logged in as him accidentally one day and I just rolled with it). Ever since then when referencing my account Jackard will say something like "Well, he was an alt anyway!" even though my cobaltjones account has 8x the posts of my original account. Also there have been times when they've called out people for "using alts!!!!!" in threads when it's actually not an alt at all but a spouse or roommate, which I find funny.

Anyway, now we're getting horribly off-topic.

Nice to know that some factions have special infos out here.

I guess if the mods weren't too busy informing you, they could ban you since all you've posted on this thread was pushing people to distrust OP (while claiming you're not interested in the gold).

Zampfeo wrote:I would assume he's selling at least a bar because you would need to turn the gold into nuggets and back into a bar to discover it. This would remove the scents in the process also. If anything, OP is the one at risk.

Wouldn't coin>nuggets work aswell ?

You're stating that they are unfair (too strict) in alt account usage. I've known quite a few forums where moderators openly point out (or just usually ban) alt accounts. For a gaming forum alt accounts have their use, but I was simply restating what the moderators have stated themselves several places and that I myself have opposed. However, again the whole point of my posting in this thread is that seeing gold from a 1 post account should raise an air of caution, while in this case as you claim it is `legit` (like omg why would I ever lie for mahfriendamirite?), as I came into to point out, more proof than "Heye here's a picture from a game with an opensource client that can easily be modified to show a different name, a picture that could easily be photoshopped, and pictures that are easier to modify than the rest, then get mad when people claim that you shouldn't trust it, or at least have some caution. I actually would have considered buying some, if there was a third party that was trustworthy in the middle to claim it's legit, but no one has stepped forward, that would be a simple thing to do right? Go find someone trustworthy, show them a coin on an alt, that's proof enough.
Pretty much any way of proving it requires showing it being used in some way ingame, not in a picture. A video usually suffices.

Anyways, as I said I have no interest in it (although I did at some point). All I cared about was having some proof that it was legit before anyone I do know that MIGHT indeed care about it attempts to purchase it. No one gave a shit about checking on your friend, no maybe I shouldn't have posted he uses a proxy? No maybe Sarchi shouldn't have, but it doesn't really matter now, a 1 account gold buyer was either a newbie troll, a trap, or a legitimate player trying to pawn something off. At least we know to some extent it's probably not the first.

(Also, you would learn it out of the smelters :? also coins require bars iirc from w3)
