I've been playing about two months, and for two weeks or more I had no palisades. I got pants'd once by AAlex, who left me a tame cow and 3 bars of tin for my newb linen. Someone stole my tin, which was essentially worthless anyway since I hadn't mined it/smelted it myself.

About three weeks in a couple of guys spawned in the heath below me and we got to talking. We proceeded to move in together and have had a very amiable relationship. We only have palisades. Closest thing to grief I've had so far was someone asking to ride in my boat and trying to swim out to it, but otherwise I've met nothing but friendly people (mostly Russians and Polish, as I live in the NW). I'm American myself.

The funny thing is that I've frequently boated in the rivers in the NW, even around CCCP, and never once run into a Dhelm or any other raider type, though while I was scavenging from the unclaimed areas of Farmertown I saw a dude robbing a claimed area.

All in all I've led a peaceful hermit life since I started.

It's not -that- bad. I've been playing two months and so far I've only had 2 people try to kill me, and neither was particularly dangerous. The people of Ainran actually saved my life.

It's true that most good nodes are claimed, though.

I've played since world 3 and have lost only a single character to an unintentional death in that whole time. As you learn more about Haven you'll come to understand that there IS such a thing as Asking for Trouble, and keeping a low profile pays dividends.

It's not a matter of if someone finds you, but when (and who).
