I think it's actually a better investment to aim for skills like boat making before seriously pushing up your exploration. I guess it depends on what curiosities you have nearby you to harvest?

Thanks to the last two posters. When i started out i invested to many points in farming, hunting, plant taxonomy( or whatever it's called) but now i don't have much to put into exploration. I think i have 3 points in it. But I've been desperately running around salivating over taproots but i might find 1 every 2 minutes or so. My hunger is down to 29% (50%).

Also i made the mistake i seeing a swamp fillled with frogs and wading in it to capture them. I then realized you can't eat frogs (maybe Hearthlings aren't french), only a few minutes later to realize my health was dropping ever few seconds. Well i was covered with leaches  , couldn't eat them either. But it might be an effective solution to killing yourself fast, just wander into swampy waters and let those things finish you off.

The only curiosities i found, was the pine cone , the doll, and ant queen's which were tremendously expensive to acquire. Though i guess if you max up exploration you can raid the ant hills faster then the ant legions can attack you with their hydrolisk spikes.

No... I've never met anybody in game. I've never seen another human. I guess they allow repititions of other names. I just started playing yesterday.

But, who knows.

That's not what people were saying at all. Quite the contrary. What was being said is that today is a bad day for new players because it's lagging. So it's out of concern for you rather than blaming you.

Exploration does not improve your odds or speed with ant hills. Get 10 Unarmed combat and raid the ant hill or lure the ants away before raiding the ant hill.
Grab dragon flies, rabbits, chickens, and toads. Forage flowers and herbs, build bark boats, and raid ant hills. Emerald Dragonflies, Ruby Dragonflies, Itsy Bitsy Spiders, Itsy Bitsy Spider Webs, Ladybugs, Ant Soldiers, Ant Queens, Ant Empresses, Bark Boats, Cone Cows, and many other curiosities are easy to get and require no skills to acquire.

Best way to raid ant-hills as a new player is to attack the ant hill and then run away until the ants stop chasing you (their icon dissapears from the top right corner of the screen) and then return to the now empty ant-hill and raid it in piece. This is much more affective if you are near water as you can just run to the shallow water and stand in it, the ants will run into the water and get lost and then you can just walk away from them and they wont follow..

Interact with everything is the best advice. Lots of free lp if you do that. Learn what skills are worth buying at the correct time (i,e don't buy candlemaking until you have beekeeping and don't buy beekeeping until you are planting varied crops) and invest in exploration, survival, craft skills and combat skills in that sort of order). Try not to extend one Attribute (str/con etc) too high (although INT is tempting) because it makes getting the others up more difficult. PER is important, but unless you are lucky you aren't going to find the basic PER increasers easily (Beets/carrots/peas).

Explorating will find you abandoned farms and seeds can be gotten from them. The most common is Pumpkin (at least to me) which is a good str/con improver.
