In world 3, there was much less of this kind of stuff because of factions like Sodom. Hell, I remember people being SCARED to leave any scents from criminal activity because there was always a chance Sodom might track it (which wasn't necessarily true because for the most part, Sodom kept to its own grid).

True, most grids had a local power that would atleast keep some sense of law & order in their area. In my case it was Hivemind. :D

Or course depending on who the local power was, this could be a good thing or a bad thing.

That's how things should be, honestly.

Without the possibility of true commerce and the way things are right now with the major factions, this will never happen. Truth is, this game needs towns like Sodom that try to keep stability, and the game needs other factions that police their own territories. And by true commerce, I am referring to the various markets that existed in world 3 (Buyan Market, Xanadu, Constantinople, Lost Caverns Market, etc) in order to facilitate mass trade and serve as common, relatively secure meeting grounds for people to do their business. However, no one will do this (at least this world) because of how easy it is to grief these places. There's no stability whatsoever, and within a few days of a town opening the doors to its market, the stalls that are built will be looted/destroyed. Perps will hide in vaults. Nothing will be done. It's sad, but true.

I believe brickbashers should be possible again but should require very high investment. Maybe remove the strength buff from einherjeraspekt in order to control these monsters. :) They are very interesting tools that affect politics among major factions.

Hmm, just a thought: what if brickbashers could exist, but the scent from bashing brick doesn't require a hearthfire to summon . . .

Wouldn't that make it an automatic death sentence for the basher, though? How would that work?

Guess it'd be a secret weapon then, feed up a basher, and then, when you really need it, pull him out.. Kind of lame, but it'd make dying mean something more i guess. And not everyone would brick bash willy nilly.

It would defeat the purpose of a brickbasher, though.

Hell, I remember when we made ours in world 3. Took us months, and that was WITH 100% einherjeraspekt (pre-nerf).

If your brickbasher basically died right after using it, then you'd have a situation where two major factions are at war with each other and the first one to use their brickbasher is the one that loses.

By adding attrition to warfare and having a siege represent an expense by the offense.
