Gold Crown: requires 2 gold bars. Adds 4,793,257,824 charisma.

Charisma: still worthless... :D

When we get more government actions, maybe crowns or scepters could be required to use some of them.

No no, he's right. Who would accept a gold coin if it can't be used to make anything? Particularly if there's no guarantee that anyone else would want a gold coin, either.

In fact, other than for the novelty value, or for future hopes of item implementation, there's no reason to want a gold coin as an end.

Ow! Ow! Ow!
Now I have a headache from agreeing with Voodoodog.

did you read my post? i didnt say gold HAS a value. i said using it will GIVE it a value. At some point people will need to take a risk and start accepting gold coin. using gold coin in this way would let it gain a value. thus starting a simple/fledgeling economy.

i dont understand your fixation with there being no items you can make with gold. this isnt necessary, infact its perfect that you can only make coins with it right now.

Look, I have voodoodog on my ignore list and when I do check what he's posted, I'm usually glad I do.
But this time he has a point. There is currently no practical value to gold; there is some value, notably people intending to stockpile it until it becomes useful, and those who simply want to "have some gold" for the novelty.

However, there is nothing you can do with gold. Look at Loftar's Lembas; it is both rare and useful because it can be used to do something.

You are assuming that gold already has a value and that people will be willing to give up, for instance, a soldier's sword, which can be used to grow the town or hunt, in exchange for gold that does nothing. If there was an end use for the gold, even if it was something like "use ten bars of gold and 100,000,000 LP to summon a dragon pet", which almost nobody would be able to do, then there would still be a value to gold because the people who could use it would be willing to buy it from others, who would be willing to give up other items to obtain it and so forth.

Until that happens, the only value gold has is the anticipation that such a thing will happen. I wouldn't really be interested in trading much more than a bundle of sticks for gold.
Surprise.

Lead? Fifty minus-intelligence FEP, of course.

Let me guess, you also traded your Lembas for some seeds.

You've got it backwards. If someone was selling gold, all I'd be willing to pay them would be sticks. Maybe a loaf of bread. If I was selling gold to someone else, I wouldn't accept anything less than several dozen wrought iron bars at very least. So the gold isn't going anywhere.

Unfortunately for anyone with gold mines, the seller can't simply set his price. He can only choose to sell for the most a buyer will pay.
Surprise.
