you should be able to build something like this out of a one tree.

chop a tree and work out of it a boat. like you do it with a quern or runestone

The canoe in Jorb's picture could very well be a dug-out version. Of course it could also be birch-bark.

I wonder if they will implement resin, pitch, and rosin. Perhaps we'll get perfumes, and ink that actually makes sense. :D
The grumpiest tree you ever did see.

Character: Hamel, previously Chieftain of Ancient Bottleneck, a founding father of the Confederation of Bottleneck. Currently a hibernating soul.

nice boat

Any chance of getting giant squids and such?
"The monster's massive tentacles penetrated through the hull of the boat, sending seamen flying everywhere."
You see a masterful engraving by Blaze. On it is Blaze, bears, boars, and foxes. Blaze is striking down the bears. The boars are screaming. The foxes are in a fetal position. The image relates to the return of Blaze in the late winter of 2009.

Could loftar in the boat mean there might be a fishing update in the works too?

High QL fishing poles need to be useful for something! :P

Looking awesome though. Bet that big boat there costs a lot of wood.

Personally I hope boats are much too difficult for newbies with less than a few days of experience to build. A lot of people built their homes in secluded areas along water routes to be away from the hectic grief-infested newbie areas and allowing just everyone to sail by whenever/wherever sounds like a bad idea.
