I don't use a bot either, i can't pretend i havn't been very much tempted and understand those who do give in to the temptation BUT - i've managed to build up a strong and all round char, a large, smoothly running village and have all the products of the game, all by myself. :D

It's taken time, a lot of hours and hard work but i'm kinda proud of it

Had i used bots it would of seemed like a 'fail'.

THANK YOU!
Finally someone who agree's. I have also put a lot of time and effort into my character. Although I'm a hermit, I must say my place is ballin as well
You do feel much more accomplished about your player and your place when you do, do it yourself.
I honestly probably would have quit this game early on if I used botting.
Thank you for the support Amanda.

Well I sure hope you don't use a custom client!

(That's just as much "cheating" as those bots you seem to abhor)

I can see in some way's how custom client's can be cheating. Such as being able to see animals and forgables on the mini map. In some way's not so much, some way's are just a shortcut to wiki or just social such as global chat. But I have to say it's not near as bad as the bot's issue. If I were to argue against that I would say, at least people actually play when they use a client such as Ender's Client as to bot's characters aren't, stats/ skills can be jacked up easily and no effort put forth at all other than downloading it the bot itself. IF I were to argue against it. I just don't think the clients are a big as threat as bots. But yes I can see as how client's can also be considered cheating.
Just more over concerned with the bot's.

I would argue that you're very wrong. The only reason clients aren't a threat is because everyone has access to them ;). If there was a way they could totally remove botting so no one had access to it, fine. But your suggestion is to take the possibility away from new players to the game who haven't downloaded these bots yet, and leave the advantage to people who already have it.

Just like everyone has access to bot's, but that does not make them a non-threat. :|
It is just that a lot people dis-approve the use of them and therefore do not use them, where a fewer amount do use them, cheating the majority of hearthlings and destroying the game for them by making palibusters, gathering insane amounts of mats and so forth. I'm not as concerned with the clients right now, I hope this thread doesn't turn into a argument over clients because this isn't what the thread is about. At all. :P

You edited your post so here is mine,
Yes cut down on the discovery of botting to new players. Sure the other current botters would still be doing so, and that's unfair, but a little botting is better than botting mayhem. Also most of the current botters would get tired of the game alot quicker than actual players, quit, and without the botting support on the forums result in a even bigger cut down on them.

The bottom line is: bots exist and will be readily available. Nothing you legit players can do about it.

I know that as well as everyone else. I'm stating that the growth could at least be cut down, maybe take them off the forums and maybe some how find and ban those players or have a server "reboot" or something of some sort to log them out instead of them running constantly.

Yep, everything up to the first point the user makes a big FAIL. So your mail was nice and short for me.

(left (boring) topic)

I'm not even going to argue with that because you just put strength to what I said lol.
If your not going to post a somewhat intellectual reply, don't reply at all please....please.

I guess I am unclear, what do bots do that give them such an advantage or make them a problem?

Firstly: I didn't say i 'abhor' bots, i said i'd considered using them. What i said was that from a personal point of view i
prefered having made my achievements by myself.

Secondly: Yes, i do use the enders client, so am maybe a touch hypercritical but there are degrees of cheating, some are
more acceptable than others, depending on your point of view.
