I can donate some wine and wine glasses, since I harvest too many grapes for my own good. I've got some cheese I could bring, too, for fun.

This is just my opinion, but I would wait till you can build a larger building, cabin just won't cut it for an in. :/

Yeah which is why I think you should build just one cabin, and make the rest like paved or grassed and decorated sort of with poppies and flax flowers and shit. It'll be an outdoor pub, Build a cute little wooden fence. Pallisade the hut to use as a storehouse.

Chak, I love that idea. I think that's what i'll do. Plus, we won't have newcomers getting stuck in the doorway cause some drunkard is being a cock and trying to block people for the hell of it :p

A belligerent drunk could certainly mess with the mood of the place :( You may want to consider retaining some of the regular patrons as "bouncers" to deal with the, hopefully, infrequent griefer(s). ;)

Barrels of ale will be brought out behind a wall of unbuilt wicker baskets or something, with one wicker basket in the middle. I'll be taking orders, and i'll put the orders in the wicker basket.

This way, you will have to queue up for beer, and if we have 2 or 3 people working, it will be fine.

Customer walks up to the wicker basket, places an order for a mug of cold beer, puts the 1c in the basket and waits. Meanwhile, I (the bartender), take the money, pocket it and hand out the mug of beer.

We will have to have donated mugs and wine cups and wine bottles, or the customers can bring their own drinking utensils (which would kind of ruin it, seeing as most people don't have mugs...). So that is a problem. If I handed out mugs, most like i'd never see them again.

That is what I thought i'd do...

So, a look at the inside of the cabin:

WWWWWW
WxxxxSxxW
WbBbbBbbW
WxxxxxxxW
WWDWWW W = Wall S = Storage for beer or whatever b = Unfinished wicker basket that'll act as a fence B = Finished wicker basket D = Door

I think that'd stop people just walking behind the bar and taking away ale for free. If someone who wanted to be a griefer came along and started destroying the unfinished wicker baskets, i'd just replace them with more sticks and get the griefer kicked out or killed.

I'd have Brodgar on my side along with many other customers :D

PS: Also, like I said, if someone was feeling generous, they could buy a whole barrel of beer and choose what to do with it. Either bring it out for free drinks for all, or just drink it all for themselves :p

well best of luck to you. i think you'd be better off selling bottles of beer, and making the customer bring their own tankard. however, as you said, a lot of people don't have them... you could sell tankards i suppose, but they are a bit costly @ 5 nuggets of tin. too bad we can't drink beer out of the bottle.
