Relating to OP's post... In w5 I found a town that was set up like this. Black is cliff, brown is pally, and red is brick.

Maybe. Maybe the builder was stupid enough to think that putting the brick wall INSIDE the wood wall was safe and protective. (A: it's not. You're just providing your enemies a free palisade to protect a ram with. Hope you have your own pali basher!)
