I too think this is an excellent idea, being a hermit and not coming into contact with many ppl i don't get the chance to spar and the only 'fight' i've been involved in was with someone who underestimated my strength and fled after one punch, lol - thank goodness!
Whilst i have no designs to become a warrior or anything, i would at least like to know how to react and possibly defend myself should the situation crop up, better than just panicing and pressing random buttons :?

Also, i'd love to watch, can you fight with your tops off tho - be like gladiator, lol, or 300 mmmmm.

And serious question - as i've never done it before i don't know anything about sparring, do you actualy get proper damage then when you spar? I thought it was just like 'pretend', with no damage being inccured, idk?

yeah, its "pretend". sadly/annoyingly your armour can still be damaged for real.

naked wrestling is pretty manly i heard... :?
especially when you don't trust your opponent fully, takes some balls.

imo would be annoying to have to keep replacing the sparring armour. also i dunno how to balance the q of the sword with the q of the sparring armour to make it "realistic", especially considering it depends on str, and this would also alter the damage balance between unarmed and weapon attacks. someone could run the numbers i guess. considering that a full sting with proper armour & proper sword & decent str & con @ zero def will 1shot most/(all?) people, seems difficult to come to a satisfactory balance.

we just spar amongst our forest of cheese racks :p. i saw a beautiful spar in AfO when it was shut the other day however.

I would like more input about the placement, I'm thinking of doing it right at the idol for just straight combat and possibly making another one on the other side of the little cliff for obstacles. Also I've received a few PMs saying they'd like to help so if you're interested feel free to shoot me a HS. I'll likely outline the size in stone today so anyone who stops by feel free to throw a few stones down on the inside

Work on the perimeter has begun, I'll post a picture when it's outlined properly

Currently asking around if anyone has any ideas for a pixel design to be made onto the sparring arena, please leave your suggestions here
