Pain has made a worthy statement!

To you bashers: I could sell my Computer for about $150 max - so now tell me:
1. How long could one hungry family feed themselves with that?
2. How long could hungry families feed themselves with that?
3. How high would alone the transfer cost for the money be?

4. Does anyone of you know what the cost for that jump was?!?
5. Is anyone of you aware of the fact that you won't find any informations about the costs?
6. Estimate the income of let alone selling the rights to TV stations and tell me how many nations could feed all their hungry ppl with that

7. What's the worth for humankind in this jump?!?

;) Anyway - no need to answer this - keep flying... :P

I am actually with you and Pain on this, nontheless there is a worth to humankind. Otherwise it would not have gotten so much attention.

I would actually more argue in another direction and ask how this is the hottest topic on any news for days? There is so many urgent political issues we should be concerned about and getting informed on.

Another issue is that I find it to be weird to see Red Bull having a more successful space program than NASA (that is an exaggeration, before anyone comes crying) and why Redbull is investing a lot more money into sports than many governments do? The commercialization of such societal pillars is more than questionable. Only thing to ask is wether to blame the company doing this or the governments not doing anything about it?

@Dill, so you never had your own appartment yeah?

1. Not long. But its more or less of a way of saying "Sure, its easy to grandstand and make yourself look morally righteous on the backs of others. But instead of just bitching and moping, do something about it?" And remember that German saying you quoted earlier: every cent helps ;)
2. See number one
3. Again, number one

4. Probably a lot.
5. That's not true. I'm sure if someone out there was resilient enough, they can get their hands on it.
6. I don't know, but I'm sure investors wouldn't invest in it if it didn't garner a return (i.e. a return on Redbull and other sponsors' sales). Therefore if they are correct, it supplies company expansions, thus capital expansion and higher wages/more jobs. Doesn't that feed more people?

7. More jobs, lower prices, higher wages, more capital formation? Those feed people and empowers individuals with the ability to produce things rather than just throwing food at them and not fixing the problem. Blaming society's greatest creator, capitalism for the ails of society (which in essence is what your doing when you compare "how many people this could've directly and immediately fed" instead of looking at the bigger longer term picture) is detrimental and ignorant to a degree that makes my brain throb thinking about it.

Nothing personal ofc, Borka :D

For one, Just because I'm 16 doesn't mean that i have no knowledge about finances. I've learned a lot from my mom and i could work my way around it if needed. Second the comment i made was not about me getting a house, You don't need a house to survive. Use money to buy food/clothing and survive in the woods.

Also mono is on the same boat as me. (see below)

Why we should give money to people who can't earn some money to buy food? So everyone should give money to lazy africans or to alcoholics and junkies or other cuz they can't live on thier own? When i see people write about how many money are wasted and how they will feed every hungry, but they only sitting before computer and shit talking. So i proposed that pain should sell his computer cuz it is not worth the same as the jump. ok?

stunning first answer - made me nearly speechless Dill... btw. the boat is already sunken you're sitting in - you might remember me telling this when you reached Pains or my age :P (goes to all "Boatpeople")

@Burgi
Full Ack

@Grim there where enough attemps to get informations to make the whole shebang about the jump and it's costs transparent...but nope, some well known journalists did mention that curtain in their coverage.

:) I love reading your opinions!

Oh boy...I thought the thread had reached rock bottom now, but you really cannot know any better. And then comes along this guy:

Monokurobo wrote:Why we should give money to people who can't earn some money to buy food? So everyone should give money to lazy africans...

This borderlines racism for me. Nobody can be this naive... So cut it out or I will take actions as a mod. If you are serious about this then for the love of god get a better education.
