Javascript =/= Java. Entirely different things.

Topia Online uses WebGL and HTML5 canvas. The game uses your graphics processor to render, and requires no 'plugins' or 'downloads'. It is using the most modern web technology available today, and will perform better than many desktop games. You can expect a framerate of 60+ FPS and fluid animations with post processing / pixel filters, particles, shadows, and even anti-aliasing/bloom if you choose. Additionally, the game will run on any device, including tablets and phones. We are excited to be able to use all of this new technology.

If you are having problems registering on the forum/beta, please email me at joshrmt@gmail.com.

I don't think you answered this of all questions.

We will not have a cash shop, but a subscription is possible, though we will be hosting numerous 'completely free' sandbox instances.

Starting to get turned away from the whole idea now.

1. Persistent characters - you stay logged in regardless of whether or not you're playing the game, leaving you open to attack with only an automated response to deal with whatever threat that might be attacking you i.e. mobs and players.

2. Automated scripting - have the computer do all the tedious stuff for you; taken from their forum:

Here are some example scripts that will be available to everyone at launch:
- Chop nearby trees and bring all lumber to X location.
- Sleep in nearest bed, but defend home.
- Build simple dwelling.
- Hunt for food.
- Operate a store.

This script will automatically run indefinitely, chopping down any trees in a region.

I think we all remember back when H&H had the LP given to your character upon doing a task, so there was massive tree loss in entire supergrids because of bots. Their idea just makes it easier for everyone to do it now.

3. A lot of other stuff I simply disagree with. Maybe I'm just used to the way H&H works.

I'll try the beta when it's out, and I'll say that it's still too early to make a final decision, but I know which way I'm leaning towards and it's definitely not towards this game.

So what would be the advantage of subscribing?
