Well, that's precisely the thing; 3.9 is already up to rc6, and few kernel version have required more than 7 or 8 to be released, so I wouldn't think it's long until I can get it.

Either way, I think the lag should've gotten better by me having put the minimap region files on tmpfs.

Then I would go with turning off mini-maps or whatever you think is best. Then waiting until you can upgrade.
