From what I have seen so far, the sole reason is because of all the land staking in the area. The only unstaked land is road. most of the area in each plot is unused in my opinion, being 3 times the size they have to be. i am guessing you guys feel your more powerful the more land you have? i donno but most of you guys seem to have just staked dirt and use it for a basket/jug depot... with a sprinkle of crops.

if you dont like the noobies, maybe you shouldn't have made a town right by their spawn point?

As you said, you obviously don't know. The reason there's no tree is exactly because of newbies. But you're also right in saying that's what you get for settling near the RoB. There's no reason not to have big claims, the world in HnH is huge. And it makes organization much easier. The reason it feels crowded is because you're in the armpit of the HnH world. Go anywhere else and the game gets immediatly 10x better.

The big town of Brogdor was intended to be used by newbies. A few others have moved in around them, mostly around the edges, I guess. I have no idea why, especially if they wanted to avoid people.
Of course, this was all before the multiple stones and everything. Next time there's a new world, I'm thinking there needs to be four or five stones separated by a multigrid. Hey, how about one "natural" stone a grid?

Part of the problem is that a lot of that stuff is just abandoned. There needs to be a form of decay that's less annoying and better at clearing out garbage.
And trees need to grow back. That's supposed to not be a problem, especially with this new RAM or whatever.
Surprise.

Funny stuff, I feel I should clear up a few misconceptions:

What Cain said. Take my advice and read up, then you will understand a bit more.
Trees take a bit of effort to replant and almost no effort to chop.
Cabins take about 20 trees or so, Pallisaides take about 3 or 4 trees to get started and then about one tree for every 50 or so tiles you want to enclose.
So there's a big legitimate drain on trees, but there's also a lot of new players who think grinding clogs is a good way to start the game... It's not...

DeadlyPencil wrote:From what I have seen so far, the sole reason is because of all the land staking in the area.

The high claim density is due to high population and people attempting to keep people OFF their trees, which they have planted themselves.
There is also a heavy claim density down the south road from the ring where all the shops are.
Play a bit more, do some more exploring. You'll get a better feel for how things are.

I don't dislike new players. Quite the opposite. Re-read what I've been telling you, I'm not insulting you, I'm giving you advice that will make the game more fun for you to play.

Brodgar was built next to the new player start area deliberately to help out new players such as yourself. Most ask questions politely in game before they go running their mouth off on the forum and tend to have a better experience.

Pre wipe there was no new player help town next to the RoB, and new players had things a LOT rougher in terms of finding trees/space/help.

Most of the settlements near TCoB have been there since the map started, many have been abandoned and are largely empty claims. Please pester loftar to make claims decay.
