... What?
I mean, does someone REALLY play like this? Earning nuggets by staying at 100% LP and getting numen points instead of mining?

Well I mean considering that nuggets are hard enough to get with prospecting on top of trying to get LP for that purpose, I see this as a slow but sure way of getting nuggets early on. Then again this is based off my experiences and knowledge, and hopefully this will come to a point where I am unable to recommend further skills without the "crutch" provided by more skilled players.

True, but being a noob on starting this game, even the wiki was hard to use early on, and everything seemed nearly impossible to do. But everyone's gotta start somewhere.

Also since when does the wiki state "Ok first it's best to spend your LP on this" and "It's best not to spend them on that for now"? This is the aim of this thread, and I intend on doing with it. You may say it's useless, but other people might say otherwise.

No. Don't do that, if you think that's the best way to do things, you should REALLY not be writing guides.

Actually totally disagree with the above, it takes some players a while to get mining, and some don't want to mine at all - particularly the casual sort so getting enough nuggets to make basic tools early on is a very good idea. What isn't a good idea is using your main character to do it, you want an alt that goes full tradition and therefore only needs to make 4 sacrifices per nugget. This way you can get a scythe, metal plow, metal cauldron and metal meat grinder in the first day which really makes life easier and at the start the quality really doesn't matter. Your main should of course be full change early on in order to develop as fast as possible.

ps could a mod please correct the position of the apostrophe in the title of this thread?

The easier way is probably to look for a partially mined out area in nearby cave, pray for 2-4 nuggets to build one or two supports and get few smelters of ore, which is enough for all the basic tools. You have to get lucky with ore type though, but not as lucky as with numen nuggets.

Yes, I know everyone says to do things on multiple characters and I understand the logic in why, but the thought of it confuses me. Losing less when dying and being able to do more is good, but to me feeling independent and having a strong, dominant character feels better at the moment. Maybe I'll consider putting in different ways to do things with your skills, but right now I'd like to put these down based on my experiences and corrections from the community, and major edits will come after major updates.

Also I'd appreciate other ways to use skills, ("another way you can use this skill") as suggestions.

I'm a fan of having one nature character, one industry, and if I'm feeling fancy, one industry character devoted to foraging (and if necessary, tracking) so if I lose my main my foraging isn't put on hold and I get more cave clay/feldspar.

I wish I could keep it that simple.. I currently have 19 alts, but some of that is because I like to do slow things-fishing/digging/cooking with cauldron/boiling silk cocoons etc with several characters at once. I do the same as you with foraging, you really don't want to be using your main character for that and industry definitely helps, if you can afford to make a few forage alts you can save a lot of foraging time by placing them in the different foraging locations (ie, one on a mountain, one in a swamp, one in a cave) so you don't waste time walking and really after a month or two playing getting a few characters up to the levels is not that difficult - your swamp and cave foragers only need 2.1k per/exp as you don't need glimmermoss from caves if you have someone with 6.4k on a mountain, and a significant amount of that can be achieved with r cape and glasses or monocle.

Is quite convenient to have few foragers logged out in swamps/mountains and just log them in every 15min, forage what you see, log out, then go home when they're full.
