Nah, don't bother. It's not Gurren Lagann, though from the hints it seems very similar. The Gurren Lagann female main character doesn't look gothic at all. She's very hot nonetheless.

I think this is a very bad pick of mine again. Too much of a niche anime after all.

Yes, it's literally a journey. After a rather long exposition most of the anime is about the journey and the different situations they find themselves in each time.

Some more spoilers:
Lots of desperation, sometimes way too much pseudophilosophical blabber, very dark theme after all, but there's also an added child character for some cuteness, a lot of the plot is also about finding out who pulls the strings and why.

I'm just a sucker for these sad settings.

Ergo Proxy is a wowwow-anime, meaning it is broadcasted only on this satellite network called wowwow here, so i never got a chance to watch it. the plot sounds interesting though.

yep Origin was popular in germany - afaik it even was shown on free tv once - i mainly like the Kokia album where the song is from
