I'm really liking the star thing. I wouldn't mind it being really hard to figure out as well. I think that would be fun.

punishes small groups of friends more than large factions or guilds. maybe we'll see more clustering, small groups relying on the larger. Or maybe it'll just chase people off that would have otherwise played

How an indie MMO is supposed to build pop without that word of mouth is beyond me. "Hey have you heard of this new sandbox game? Well, no, we can't play it together, but...!"

Maybe in independence our journey to meet others makes us stronger. And for the record I have requested a form of communication amongst friends even if we do not have party option or HF spawning. Hopefully it will be implemented. :)

Pssh, Im pretty sure that jorb and lorftar dont want high population, the high populations of the early worlds were a mistake.

Never heard of "taxi service" ?
Its a franchise adopt by 1 village in each grind of the map.
A fresh player can go there and ask to be escoted to a friend who is waiting near another taxi villlage.
What payment could a noob afford, main question ... ($$$$ ?)

It doesn't really matter. Those who appreciate little things like that will play, and those who don't will not play, as has always been the case for Haven. Jorbtar are not worried about how many people are playing, just that they make the game how they want it.

I fear something like this will happen.

All abuse aside. Its the perfect anti-social mechanic that will for sure reduce the community size. Jorb don't you fear it will reduce the popularity of the game overall? If it does fail after seeing how big of a pain it will be, will we see a comeback of the HS or this is set in permanent stone?

Not alowing people to have a villlage of 10 alts each specialize in one thing?
I have a better solution : all the stats/skill caps also works for the man that utilise the stuff, not just the one who make it.
When you eat a lvl 200 carrot and you have 50 farming, its like you eat a lvl 50 carrot.
