The reason he kinned you, is because he wants gain a reputation, and he can't do that if he kills people without them knowing who he is.
If you didn't accept his kin, he'd probably leave you alone, log off and immediately run to his bathroom, get in the shower, go into the fetal position and start crying.

I doubt having the achivement Newbie Killer is something to brag about.

Some people brag about bad grades... Some people brag about oath killing...
Someone just wants to be infamous for being an asshole. It is easier to achieve than being famous for being a nice guy anyway.

There's nothing political about it. Someone died, this isn't two factions going to war.

I'd argue against even that. OP isn't asking for justice or for any kind of help on the matter. The thread is on 'why did this person kin me then kill me.'

I defer the matter to your good judgement. I was mostly just sayin'. :)

"teaching" argument has such a long beard - Teachers don't kill ... asshats that get owned and teabagged even in CoD all the time kill at HnH for no reasons

to OP - i met some newer players who's playstyle is not to bother with setting up walls but playing in a state of mind of "if someone fucks me then be it - i start over" - as long you're not running the competitive rat race it's a good way to experience HnH

You are talking about trying to be famous for killing the equivalent of a goomba. That isn't something I find brag-worthy about and I daresay doing so can potentially be detrimental to ones reputation.

You see, they're not trying to brag about how skillful they are when they kill a goomba, or a skrub. They are making themselves infamous for being the dicks that go around and kill defenseless noobs.

Being a dick about it takes just slightly more effort than just killing said goombas and still pretty low on the tier list.

Compare it to Dizzy and gang in world 3. They are no stronger than someone that can take on animals and whom were fairly newbie-ish on game mechanics during the time but raided Ravenholm (multiple times), Port Eyrie, the Tricities, as well as Wo_ansgeisa and Ironcliff (which ended up becoming their base) as well as make the biggest dickish move by destroying the crossroad to central hub Constantinople.

If they want to gain notoriety, they need to do something that has more impact and/or know how to push factions' buttons.

No, not really. Say, Last oathkilled 2-3 people in trade and I know at least 10 people who have ACTIVELY searched for him to kill him.
Frost didn't oathkill anyone but as soon as the rumor got around he was very known on the forum, etc.
To be very known, you need to rustle a lot of jimmies, and the easiest way to do that is not fairly beating a faction person in 1 on 1 combat, it's raping noobs 3v1 while they have an LC above their head in a trade and can't defend themselves.
