Correct.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

So I could get 99 honey buns for 1 wrought iron bar? If we're considering the fair price stated on the previous list (35CIC)
Sweeeeeeeeet.

There's no way I'll accept an exchange rate of 35cic for 1wic. 8cic for 1 wic is the biggest ratio I'll accept. My reasoning: 1/2 of cast turns into bloom, and 1/3 of bloom turns into wrought. 1/2 * 1/3 = 1/6, which means it takes 6 cast to make 1 wrought. I'm not even taking into account that bloom that fails to turn into iron reverts to cast and isn't wasted, and I'm adding some value for labour involved. All in all 8:1 is a fair ratio, I would say.

I would have thought a 10:1 for all coins would have worked... 1 in 10 chance of getting cast iron and then I don't know the ratio of getting blooms or not but if it is 1 on 10 make 10 CIC = 1 WIC. If it is 1 in 8 make it 8 CIC = 1 WIC. And obviously since it takes so long to get steel 10:1 ratio works out fine for that. Just some food for thought.

You also forget to factor the cost of the food and tea needed to fuel the miners, the wood needed for coal for the smelters, and the coal needed for the finery forge.

I'll go as low as 10 - 1, it makes for easier calculations. In addition, costs of the goods traded must be in multiples of 2, 5, or 10, we don't need odd coins left out of the transaction.

I have factored in those costs. Hell, I even assumed that for every tree that's cut down for charcoal another needs to be planted.

Do you know how long it takes for a tree to grow? A lot longer than it takes to make steel, and saplings have a chance of dying when in the herbalist table.

Forest ground takes less time than steel, grassland takes longer. As long as you are taking trees from forest ground you should be fine.

You should also buy your sapling from someone with nature specialization - I almost never get dead saplings. It's not my fault if you're being inefficient. And really, more time means you just need more real estate for your forest. And it's not like there's a shortage of that (if there is, you should either move or import charcoal). You don't see me talking about how long it takes for wheat to grow.

Id be in favor of a 1-10-100 system of exchange, just for ease
although i think it actually should be more like 1-8-80, with steel falling as more settlements get established.
but dont worry about the 35-1 deal
just post your prices in wc, divided by 8. heh.
