Yes.

Oh joy. Oh well, yay for a wilderness start! Anyhow, what is the 'extremely high str' that's roughly required? We're at least talking about someone who has powered up their STR with much time and effort, right? If 200 STR is no longer enough, what roughly is?
If rules were meant to be broken we would have called them ribs instead.

You need over 300 to break down a palisade. You can get that with under 100 natural str. There is a lot of equipment that boosts str.

Well, fun-fun, all that racket. At least the good news is that I'm in a relatively isolated little corner of the game-map. Hopefully give me some time to build some brick walls to protect against griefers.
Just when I thought there was a bit of protection against the unsavory. I'd hoped that at least if someone uses a ram to take down the pallisades I would have time and opportunity to perhaps intercept and prevent them from getting in. A few minutes with a pickaxe and high STR doesn't sound as encouraging.

there is only going to be a dozen people with 300+ mod str, and of that dozen only a few are going to be the type that would steal from random people. at 300 str, they will do like 2 damage a hit i believe with a pick, on a wall with 2500 hp, it isn't exactly fast.

But those few people can and will terrorize the entire world provided they have a brick wall and they probably do. It's not like it hasn't happened before.

But it can happen.

Maybe there should be a way to reinforce wall perhaps? Maybe with steel/wood joists forming a right triangle with the wall or something of the nature to improve the walls hp?

How about modeling thief/murderer conscience so that it goes in line with our (and Jorb's) sense of reality? So they risk of suffering serious stat and skill penalties (in percentages) for doing crimes, especially for vandalism, murder or theft of worthless objects.
How about not allowing any crimes on claim whose owner is not online (I cannot wake up in game when bully is around)?
How about possibility to bury containers in ground without traces? Isnt that real and meant to discourage stealing?
Those are just real things which are not implemented.

J&H try to model this to be real, but we have: minimap (god given gift for griefers), ability to instantly coordinate their actions over great distances (through PMs or IRC), absolute absence of real world motives for theft or murder (here its done for fun or out of boredom), possibility to tear down ANY structure only if owner is not online for 2 days....

All these factors favor those who destroy, steal, pillage and spread violence and puts all those who enjoy peace and other activities other than killing and stealing to a mouse hole.

Its their game but it would be nice if they made some niche and safe Haven for those who are really benign and peaceful.

Ah I have a way this could fit into the game a flag/debuff could be given and if their character is killed in that time then they loss lp, so if someone ransacked an entire village while they were asleep but he gets caught and killed he could lose 50% of his lp and only revive with 25% of what he had before or something like that

As well as the minimap not pointing out player stuff unless they have seen it before or something like that.
