A lot of games have been successful with the vanity approach. Right now the donation button is just a hidden transaction between unknown number of people with an unknown amount of money. I'm sure alot of those that have donated have felt it was just in vain as there money just reduced from there wallet. If they had a vanity shop then it would be a bit easier to donate by getting something back, even if its digital. You could show others or encourage others by walking around with the purchased items.

just because you werent around when people actually donated some doesnt mean you can assume how others felt.

Only a retard takes sentences out of context and starts trolling the forum. Maybe you should have red the next line before commenting, go back and reread it again.

Only a retard doesnt understand what he himself said in his own post and tries to argue it back as being trolled. Maybe you should study English a little bit more.

And you don't think the community in general hasn't changed since then? Pre-Salem and Post-Salem especially the Haven community has changed. Less of optimistic silly children and more ignored stepchild lashing out for attention. There is still a core group that is good but I don't think the meta-game culture of this community is anything like it was back in 2010, and to assume it still is, is a mistake.

Сommunity is not the only thing that changed.
Donations have ranged from 0.99 US cents (smallest)

It was so much cooler when Haven was their only game and received 100% of their attention all the time. The devs were really part of the community, but now they're just distant from it almost all the time.

and you know why. the majority has been treating them only as "devs" and find it natural to demand things or complain all the time like righteous customers and hardly treat them like friends or a part of the community any more, and those few who try to be friends with them get to be called anal friends.
